I have a few Lebanese colleagues. Being a baker and a real foodie they invited me over for dinner one day. 3 colleagues in all I came over and their wives have been buisy in the kitchen all day. They had a very large charcoal pit outside and we just spend the whole day around a table sitting and just slowly eating laughing and having a grand time. When it comes to food and pride in their food culture the Libanese are something special. Not to mention that no matter what your stomach tells you, you just cant stop. Its just that good.

I literally just ate and I'm drooling like I never have before seeing this video. I'm Dominican and our food was heavily influenced by Turkish, Lebanese and Palestinian immigrants who came 100 years ago. The current president is partially of Lebanese descent.

The 'raw meat' is actually "Kibbie nayeh" (raw Kibbie). It is the national dish of Lebanon. Kibbie contains a variety of spices, puréed onion and bulgur wheat. The recipe can vary somewhat but, those are normally the basics. Kibbie can also be served baked or fried into small foot-ball shapes (you showed some briefly before getting your beets) often stuffed with meat onions and pine nuts.

Baklava is not fried. Butter is brushed in between each individual layer of phyllo dough. It is then baked until crispy, and then a sugar syrup is poured over top. There's no frying happening.

Sonny, google how to eat artichokes. You did the first part almost right but you need to dip it in something. When you get down to the stringy bits you need to cut them off of the heart. My family had an artichoke plant growing just outside our front door. It got a disease one year and my dad cut it down. There is a funny picture of me holding the plant like a friend before he died just before my dad cut it down.

My good man, Lebanese food is amazing, no doubt about that. I just have one little change to advise you about. Stuffed veggies and intestines, go for Libyan from Benghazi. It's a whole different level. It's cleaned super well, with lamb mince, coriander, 7 spice (Libyan spice mix) tomato paste, onions, garlic, dipped rice and after braised, it's fried to crisp up the skin of the intestines. Please try it. You won't be disappointed. My personal fave way I glazing it with Ghee and putting it in the oven to crisp up.
