Correct. Borders have always been porous, that’s how the European settlers got in. Thats how the comrades left for exile, that’s how the migrant workers came in to work in the mines & factories during colonial & apartheid era. The only effective border management for mass migration is shared prosperity that disincentivizes economic migration & or spreads it across different countries. The emotive political rhetoric is for the birds, but if The 2023 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study is anything to go by many are too slow to get it.
