Notice how everyone including superstar players got called for traveling back then as opposed to today. Also notice how the paint is not wide open and how physical the game is with no flopping. Even exhausted MJ scored half of his teams points, made defensive plays, and hit his free throws. Looking back at it, this is my clearest finals memory. So so good, and at the time, it had this weird hope for more. Jordan throwing up more rings than 6 plays rent free in my head to this day. The weirdest thing about Jordan never losing... when it was active, everyone was AWARE of him never losing. It was a thing to root for him to spoil his perfect record, and at the time it felt possible. They weren't invincible, MJ just willed them. Such an amazing period in NBA history. Great video, keep digging into MJ. Its insane how many great narratives there are. Check out the 97 finals, he has a game winner, the "flu" game, and the finals clinching assist to Kerr after Kerr tells him he will be ready earlier at a time out. Also, check out the story of MJ punching Kerr lmao when MJ first returned in 94/95, how Kerr reacted made MJ respect Kerr a lot and frankly I think that punch led to that pass in some crazy way. There is just so much MJ lore its amazing.

How many more points would this game have if played by today's rules? No illegal defence, no travelling, every touch a foul. That finals was a harsh fought battle from the start to the end. And at the end MJ made crucial plays, after playing all 82 games in the season and all the games in the playoffs. No load management. Everyone in any team back then played as much as they could to play every game and to get to that last game to get that ring. Some had to deal with bad injuries, some made it to the end. But MJ just wouldn't let them get that ring. It was awesome to relive that day, night for me, as I had to stay up through the night to watch it. Respect to a youngin like you to be open minded enough to watch one of the best games of the golden era and pointing the spotlight on it for others of your generation. As you can see, several things can be debunked about narratives put up by LBJ fans on social media. 1. MJ played against plumbers. => Malone was a beast and the Jazz had a deeper bench than the Bulls. 2. Pippen carried MJ => MJ scored half of the Bulls points that game. Pippen was a non-factor. 3. MJ couldn’t shoot 3’s => MJ hit 3/7 with one of those misses being a heave when time was expiring. Without the heave that’s 50% from 3. 4. MJ couldn’t go left => MJ was constantly going down the left baseline and getting hammered because they didn’t want to give him a layup. Other things I’d like to point out: The game was extremely physical and defenses were extremly tough. The refs were so strict with travels and offensive fouls that even MJ got called for an inconspicuous travel. MJ complained, but he never carried on and cried, and didn’t let it deter him from continuing to get back on defense. MJ played full effort the whole game, played good defense and moved around off the ball constantly.

Right before MJ shot that game winner over Russell, Phil told MJ that his legs were gone and that’s why he was coming up short with his shots. Phil told him to hold his follow through to add a little more distance, and Jordan listened that’s why he was holding his follow through, not so pictures could get him posing. This is also a very complete team. Center was probably the most glaring spot on the floor for the time. Rodman made up for it, so does MJ, Pipp, and, Tony. Tony was underrated. Had he played in the NBA his entire career, A) he would have been a different player than he was, B) he probably would be in the HOF. They had Harper and Kerr as well. The team was nasty and could hurt you in any and every way. It kinda was the first super team in a lot of ways since Show Time or Boston. Just the amount of pure talent on the team, regardless of age. The ability to drive the lane and shoot from the perimeter and the defense of the entire team was nuts. You're getting one game. Having seen this team and the Warriors record setting team, all I can say is that I think the Bulls would just out work then, but with the willingness of the warriors to shoot the 3 would offset the post game abilities of the big 3 MJ Pipp and Tony along with the fade away mid range they all had

What’s crazy is that this was a fatigued Bulls team with no production at the center position Scottie gutting it out. Kerr at this point had the best 3pt shooting average in the game but you can see he wasn’t THAT guy in actual games. MJ missed more shots than usual but he was there to make three big plays in a row at the end. Watching the full game you could feel this was a game the Jazz was poised to win. It just felt like a Jazz win all game. But MJ has a lot of heart. Shout out to Pippen for going back on the court despite his pain. Gotta respect him for that.

Now imagine watching your personal favorite winning team 26 years later and getting just as excited as you did when you watched it live. I'll watch a Warriors game in 2043 and maybe get as excited but I doubt it. Also if you watched The Last Dance you know the tension that was happening at the end regarding a defending run. Kukoc was a 6'11" PG from Croatia, nicknamed "The Waiter" because he was always serving dimes. The Bulls drafted him and moved him to PF and created HORRIBLE match ups four most PFs. Dude was a GREAT hooper, but MJ and Scottie were the lead dogs offensively.

If you really want to see more greatness, find the video of Michael Jordan putting up 63 on the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. The young Bulls lost but Jordan made a statement that the future of the NBA was going to be his.
