Michael Jordan played five seasons without Scottie Pippen 84-85 38-44..First round exit 85-86. 30-52..First round exit 86-87. 40-42...First round exit 01-02. 37-45..out of playoffs 02-03. 37-45..out of playoffs Lebron james has won more playoff Series' than any player in NBA HISTORY Lebron james has been to 10 nba finals. Only Bill Russell and Sam Jones (in a mostly nine team league) have made more nba finals appearances LeBron james carried an absolutely horrific 2007 Cleveland Cavaliers team to the nba finals In the modern NBA era (post 1960) only nine NBA top 75 players have won a championship without another top 75 player as a teammate Rick Barry (1975) Bill Walton (1977) Hakeem Olajuwon (1994) Tim Duncan (2005) (2007) Kobe Bryant (2009) (2010) Steph Curry (2015) (2022) LeBron james (2016) Kawhi Leonard (2019) Giannis Antetokounmpo (2021) As you can see, LeBron James is on the list and Michael Jordan isnt Lebron james has won 17 playoff series, without an nba top 75 teammate. Michael Jordan won ZERO In the year before Michael Jordan and LeBron James joined their team and the year after they left their team, their records were 83-84 bulls 27-55 84-85 bulls. 38-44 92-93 bulls 57-25 93-94 bulls 55-27 98-99 bulls 13-37 without Scottie Pippen 00-01 wizards 19-63 01-02 wizards. 37-45 02-03 wizards 37-45 03-04 wizards 25-57 02-03 cavaliers 17-65 03-04 cavaliers 35-47 09-10 cavaliers 61-21 10-11 cavaliers 19-63 09-10 heat. 47-35 10-11 heat 58-24 14-15 heat 37-45 2013-14 cavaliers 33-49 2014-15 cavaliers 53-29 2017- 18 cavaliers 50-32 2018-19 cavaliers 19-63 2017-18 lakers. 35-47 2018-19 lakers were 20-14 when LeBron James got injured on Christmas day. As you can see When LeBron James joins a team, the team improves more than Michael Jordan and when LeBron James leaves a team, the team always goes into the tank. Michael Jordan, excluding the 94-97 seasons, when the NBA moved the three point line to 22 feet, was a career 28% three point shooter. LeBron James is a career 34% three point shooter Michael Jordan was a great defensive player, in an Era where you could handcheck. Playing defense is much easier when you can handcheck. For nearly 6'9 250 LeBron James' entire career he wasn't afforded the opportunity to handcheck. THE EVIDENCE IS CLEAR..LEBRON JAMES IS THE GOAT!!!!! I have added a Postscript So many have replied, that LeBron james didn't make the playoffs his first two years and Jordan did. What they fail to say is, in 1985, 16 of 23 teams made the playoffs. In 2004, 16 of 29 teams made the playoffs. It was MUCH EASIER to make the playoffs in 1985, as opposed to 2004. Perfect example is, the 1985 86 bulls went 30-52 and made the playoffs and the 2004 05 cavaliers went 42-40 and did not make the playoffs. Also, I don't know, possibly, maybe, Jordan had a HUGE ADVANTAGE considering he played three years of college basketball and LeBron James was 19 years old, and straight out of high school

@@MasonAbe Kobe didn't start for his first 3 years because the coach held him back. Kobe Bryant didn't play the last 3 years because a torn shoulder and a torn Achilles And Kobe Bryant missed an entire season with a foot hand knee issue early in his career. Kobe Bryant only played 13 full seasons LeBron played 20 years... On steroids! Kobe Bryant was the underdog in the NBA finals 08,09 and 10. Kobe Bryant had a less talented team in LA in '08 '09 and 10 than LeBron did. But Kobe went to three straight championships and beat the teams that beat LeBron. outside of the '08 Celtics. You talk about defensive win shears and those only come in Miami when he was with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh who became a great defender. There's only one person who's been to as many all NBA defenses as Michael Jordan Kobe Bryant at 9. You're saying LeBron's defensive win shares is better than Kobe's except Kobe's been to more all NBA defensive teams at 9 than LeBron at 6. Your math ain't mathing. Kobe Bryant is a better dribbler. Kobe Bryant has a better low post game Kobe Bryant has a better mid-range game. Kobe Bryant was shooting three-pointers while being double teamed... The Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks let LeBron shoot wide open threes ( because everybody knows LeBron can't shoot) and they still have the same three-point percentage 😂= Kobe's a better three-point shooter . Kobe shoots threes with two defenders on him at the same rate as LeBron shoots threes wide open😂😂😂 Kobe's a better free throw shooter. Kobe's is a better on ball defender. You posted up a stat that LeBron has more blocks than Kobe. LeBron is a 6'8 250 lb forward and Kobe Bryant is a 6-5ft 195 lb guard... It's like comparing Tim Duncan's block shots as a center to LeBron. ( By the way Tim Duncan seen LeBron in the finals three times and spank the s*** out of him all three times/ How is LeBron above Tim Duncan when they play during the same era and Duncan spank LeBron's ass?? 🤔 Tim Duncan beat LeBron 4-0 in '07 And then Tim Duncan and the Spurs beat LeBron James and the Miami heat by more points than any team has ever lost in the NBA finals. 4-1 2014, And if it wasn't for a lucky Ray Allen shot Tim Duncan would have beat LeBron in 2013 4-2. Overall Tim Duncan has 11 wins in the NBA finals against LeBron and LeBron has 5 wins in three NBA finals😂😂😂 Tim Duncan > LaBrick) but LeBron has weak side blocks against players who didn't even see him coming. LeBron was not meeting people at the rim like Dwyane Wade. LeBron has sneaky blocks.( See interview with JR Smith giving details on "the block") not defending his man and stopping the ball but using his athleticism to chase down broken plays to catch a player by surprise. Kobe is better on ball defender. 💯 LeBron is a better passer than Kobe and that's it.... 1.) Michael Jordan 2.) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 3.) magic Johnson 4.) Bill Russell 5.) Wilt Chamberlain 6.) Tim Duncan 7.) Kobe Bryant 8.) LeBron James 9.) Shaquille O'Neal 10.) Larry Bird. And if Larry played 3+ more years I'd have him above LeBron. Larry Bird's 30 points 10 rebounds and six assists with two steals and a block in '88 was better than anything LeBrons ever done in his entire career. Peak for peak... LeBron ain't on Larry Bird's level. And to top all of this off LeBron James "the goat" had the third best shooting guard in NBA history on his team Dwyane Wade. and barely won two championships. He should have went 1-3. With us stacked team in the Eastern conference whose second best team was Paul George Indiana pacers when Paul George was on the bench until Danny Granger got hurt😂😂😂 LeBron James lost to an old Dallas Mavericks team and let Dirk nowitzki the white boy who won 50 games every year and lost in the first round win a championship... On LeBron's head while LeBron put up the biggest choke job by any superstar in NBA history 😂😂😂 because of LeBron people are calling Dirk nowitzki (a 7-footer who barely averaged six rebounds a game)One of the greatest power forwards of all time... Thanks LeBron Then in '09 LeBron lost to Dwight Howard.( the guy who doesn't take anything serious. The goofball running around with trannies 😮... ) And the reason why LeBron lost in '09 to Dwight Howard is because he ducked Kobe 🗣️🗣️🗣️ LeBron new if he played Kobe in that '09 championship Kobe was going to wax his ass!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 And then you're goofy ass wouldn't be saying nothing about LeBron versus Kobe because we all would have seen Kobe wax LeBron's ass 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Go sit down somewhere goofy

@urbaindelva7869 Lol what?? On offense and defense, who else ever played both sides of the ball better than Mike? Maybe dream comes close, but there aren't a whole lot of other players who could dominate two ways like that. Also, in 89 he took that point guard role and averaged 33/8/8 with solid defense. He started 81 games so it wasn't just a statistical blip here. Mike was super versatile bro. In the 91 finals he averaged 31 ppg, 7 rpg, and 11 apg. His passing is seriously underrated. We're talkin about a guy who gives you 33 ppg every playoff game while shutting down the opposing guard. That's pretty damn complete.

@DelorianTracking13 сағат бұрын
@@811chelseafc The discussion in between Kobe & MJ was never really about a direct comparison of stats and results but comparing them from where there started. MJ was freakishly athletic with the ability to fly and enormous hands. Kobe did not have either of those. Thus there's a legitimate argument to respect what Kobe did more than what Jordan achieved, thus to rank him higher. If it was just about personal stats, we would have another debate: MJ vs Wilt. Some records Wilt set up will never be broken. And Wilt vs Jordan 1:1, both in their prime? Wilt wins 8 out of 10.
@811chelseafc12 сағат бұрын
@ so for your argument we ignore physical traits (and apparently downplay Kobe’s immense athleticism) and put a lot of stock into a 1v1 between a guard and a center who also happens to be maybe the most athletic man who’s ever lived (which Kobe would also definitely lose). The gifts you were born with and the “starting point” (and I guess we’ll also ignore that Kobe got to develop against defenses that had to worry about prime Shaq) don’t matter. It’s about what you achieved on the court and Jordan achieved at least slightly more of everything than Kobe.

What people who read basic stats don't realize - they never adjust for pace variation over time. They also don't seem to realize LeBron literally always plays for stats while Kobe and MJ played to win at all costs. You can routinely see James throughout his career try to stat stuff in garbage time by going for open layups when they really need to get a 3 to have a chance at being able to tie/win the game. When you need the man to step up and hit a game winner, he needs to delegate all of that responsibility to DWade, Irving, or Reaves. One of the most overlooked factors as to why Shaq is not really mentioned much in the GOAT debate is the fact that he was arguably a LIABILITY in clutch situations due to his limited range and poor free throw shooting. The same could be said of LeBron and his inability to take over games and need his teammates to bail him out late into the game.

@asyetundetermined13 сағат бұрын
@@gustavsorensen9301can’t say I’ve ever really seen this on either end. Few things at play here that are new is generations interacting in a way they never have before and a media that is still using MJ to get clicks for a sport that has waning interest. Conflict sells and if they had intriguing teams and rivalries they wouldn’t need to lean on an ambassador of the game who retired 22 years ago to maintain relevance with the younger generation. Also, LeBron is clearly singularly obsessed with this on a personal level, but people aren’t willing to replace reality with his wishes, so you naturally see pushback from what ultimately is kind of the flat earth society of the sports world. LeBron isn’t content being a consensus top 10 player and most peoples’ #2, so the media onslaught continues and carries with it responses in sports communities online.

I was actually just looking at these numbers bc I’m tired of hearing about his 2007 Finals run where he “carried bums.” The Cavs swept the Wizards that year with Lebron avg 27.8ppg on 42.5% FG% while Antwan Jamison avg 32.0ppg on 47.6% FG% so how is it that Lebron’s teammates had nothing to do with winning a series in which Lebron was straight up outplayed by the man guarding him. ⏬Theres also ⏬ Game 1 - Larry Hughes has team high 27pts on 53% Game 2 - Drew Gooden has 24pts on 77% and 14 rebounds Game 3 - Big Z has 24pts on 77% and follows that up with a HUGE Game 4 - *20pts and 19rbs* •Series• Drew - 14.5ppg on 61% and 10rpg Big Z - 19ppg on 60% and 11rpg Cavs D - Opp avg 91.5ppg I am NOT saying the Cavs are making it to the Finals without Lebron. All I’m saying is the Cavs also would have never made it to the Finals without great team defense, a rotation of “bums” who stepped up offensively, and atrociously weak Eastern Conference And the proof lies in 14 of the 20 total playoff games bc LeBron was great in 2 games vs Washington, 2 games vs NJN, and 2 games vs Detroit which leaves 10 games in that finals run where LeBron avg 19 on 36% exactly the same as his terrible Finals performance

LeBron lacks the tools to be a great scorer, does anyone remembers how San Antonio clogged the lane? A simple yet effective way to stop him, because his only advantage is his size, and once the rules were changed, allowing LeBron to travel, and specially he cannot be touched

Also knows talking about that Terry played Jordan in his prime and got smoked on there match ups. Meanwhile aged Terry put the locked down on prime LJ. That says a lots.

@ you for got to add in the 3.5 turnovers per game 😂 oh most in nba history also!!!! Haaaa but they won’t talk about that on espn.
@vewayy11 сағат бұрын
@ because he passes the ball so much. every player that is high on the all time turnovers list is a high volume playmaker. not something you can use against someone. next argument?
@vewayy11 сағат бұрын
@ that was not lebron’s career averages. his career averages are slightly different. literally go and search up his averages vs terry. i can give you every single statline if you need me to. he averaged 26.1PPG, 7.5RPG, 6.3APG, 1.4SPG and 0.8BPG against JT in 41 matchups. JT averaged 12.1PPG, 1.8RPG, 2.8APG, 1.0SPG and 0.2BPG. terry “locked him up” for one series. that is it. yes lebron was poor in ‘11 finals, everyone knows that. but he erased that from his legacy in 2016.

3:00 I hate the argument in this debate that Jordan wasn't winning in the 80's...because Lebron wasn't winning in the 00's either. Jordon won his first ring in year 7, Lebron won his first in year 9. The only argument LeStans have against this is that Lebron made it to the Finals in year 4...In the weakest conference in the history of the NBA...Against two 41 win teams and a 53 win team...Then got swept when they had to play an actual good team in the Finals... That is the weakest argument in all of this debate. NEITHER of them won early in their careers and that weak ass finals appearance doesn't mean anything...He still lost.

LeBron's +/- for this season is currently -132. A player may score 20 points a night, but that doesn't tell the whole story. If he plays terrible defense, is always missing assignments and rotations, the 20 PPG scorer can easily give up as much or even more than the 20 he is scoring. If that is the case, then that 20 PPG scorer is a net negative. Straightforwardly, the +/- exposes "empty stats". Now you also understand, and see, the stat padding happening by LeBron. Players with a net negative +/- are considered replacement level bench players at best. Coaches can easily see it. Guaranteed JJ is aware.

This video demonstrates everything about LeBron that I wrote in the earlier comment, which I'll copy below: "My biggest problem with LeBron being in GOAT debates is that LeBron is objectively not even a great basketball player. He's not a great shooter/scorer, he's not a great rebounder, he's not a great defender, he's not great in the clutch, and he's not a guy who makes his teammates better - he actually makes teammates WORSE. There are SO MANY guys throughout NBA history that were better at basketball than LeBron James, a guy who can’t shoot, can’t dribble, and can’t defend. Guys like Bob MacAdoo, Rick Barry, and John Havlicek were all WAY better than LeBron. Dominique Wilkins was WAY better than LeBron. Grant Hill, Vince Carter, and Tracey McGrady were WAY better than LeBron. I’d take the “Secretary of Defense” Bobby Jones over LeBron James. I’m not saying these guys had better stats and more accolades than LeBron, just that they all played the game of basketball WITHIN THE RULES far better than LeBron ever played the game. They could dribble WITHOUT carrying, traveling, and turning over the ball, they could shoot better than LeBron, whose effective shooting range is 3 feet from the basket, they had actual “Go To” moves beyond LeBron’s “Barge and Charge” then get bailed out by the refs, they had better footwork on both ends of the court, and they were all better in the clutch than the notoriously and frequently choking LeBron. LeBron’s whole career has so obviously been manufactured by the NBA that chose him as “The Face of the League” when he was just a big athletic high schooler that would NEVER develop his game much beyond “Big and Athletic”. LeBron is the most fundamentally unsound, low-skill player ever sold as an All Time Great. LeBron is not only NOT the GOAT, he’s NOT even a great basketball player at the NBA level. And THAT is why his fans will always have to defend him and the GLARING flaws in his highly limited game by pointing to stats and accolades. LeBron James is just not very good at basketball UNLESS we throw out the rule book as the NBA repeatedly does and continues to do for him."

Before Jordan you could dispute who was the best. Once Jordan retired true basketball fans and people that know the game, like Jordan or not, realize he is the greatest. Nothing has changed to this day in 2025.

Fun fact: NBA players nowadays use carbon shoe inserts that make them jump higher. They’re slightly curved and apply spring when jumping. MJ didn’t have the privilege of such tech.

My favorite MJ story comes from Stephen Jackson. Remember that Stak is 6’8, same height as LeBron when he entered the league. Stak was also on the 2003 Spurs that dethroned the Lakers. Stak said MJ was so mad at his team (still called the Charlotte Bobcats at the time), MJ played with the benchwarmers and the first unit lost to a near 50-year-old MJ!! 😂 Stak told this story multiple times already. This happened around 2010-2011 as Stak was only in Charlotte for 2 years. This was during Stak’s second season with them. Even Najera told the story and confirmed MJ beat Stak and Stak stopped talking shit after that. MJ is the only one to do that to him. MJ would be around 47-48 years old. Dude is schooling current NBA players like Stephen Jackson who is close to the same height as LeBron and who helped eliminate Shaq and Kobe in the playoffs. MJ really is the GOAT. When Stak went home, he realized he shouldn’t feel embarrassed. He said that’s why MJ is the GOAT. An old, bald MFer still killing younger cats 1-on-1 or beating players next to the worst teammates. Jimmy Butler did something similar in Minnesota. Jamal Crawford has also stated he was on MJ’s team all the time during pickup games and they never lost together. They won tons of pickup games. I thought MJ competed against plumbers? Yet, if he wanted to, he could school every MFer talking shit to him out there. Maybe guys like KD and Wemby can beat MJ because of their height. MJ is the Mr. Miyagi of basketball. He’s Yoda + Mace + Anakin (the real Chosen One). If he wanted to shut down a 16-year-old LeBron, he would’ve done it. In the 2007 Finals, LeBron averaged 22 PPG, shot 36% and had 6 turnovers per game. Unguardable, my ass. He was getting swept by the Spurs at the age of 22. Kept forcing him to shoot from the outside. You don’t think a 38-year-old MJ couldn’t shut him down if he tried if he already schooled a high schooler in OJ Mayo at the age of 43 in 2006? Any player, MJ would beat him 1-on-1. Only Kobe could maybe beat him since he stole all of MJ’s moves.

To me he lost his goat chance vs the spurs. Not because he lost, not because he lost 0-4, because he straight refused to play. I distinctly remember him standing almost at half court throwing the ball into his team mates and refusing to be part of the offense. I get he was the only real weapon on the team, i get they were doomed. I would fully expect james to stop throwing his body around, driving hard and going to the floor. Make a few passes, take a mid range shot, don't get hurt. But to sit back, basically put your whole team on blast. A goat could never.
