LeBron James often praises Nikola Jokic in his interviews as one of the most intelligent basketball players in the NBA league. In his appearance in JJ Redick's podcast, LeBron once again mentioned that Nikola Jokic is one of the greatest IQ guys that we've ever seen in the league. LeBron said that players like him, Nikola Jokic, Draymond Green, Steph Curry are the ones who make the difference and that such teams are expected in the playoffs.

Draymond has IG in being a Steph backpack. In the years they were at the top, dude was CONSTANTLY getting away with moving screens. I love Steph, top 10 of all time easy, but refs letting Draymond do this, literally won them the rings. Not saying he is bad, he isnt, but overrated yes, if refs called his screens like other players, he would have never been this good.

@@awm6368 I never said he should play in NY or that he said I was alluding to the fact that he's got the kind of personality that doesn't allow the nonsense to get to him. That's all I said. I wasn't saying the Knicks are getting him. Certain pros just don't have the personality or mentality to let certain things slide. Derek Jeter was able to handle it but I felt Eli Manning did even a better job of letting the NY stress slide off him. Jokic got that vibe. That's a killer instinct to me. You think Lebron could handle NY Media 24/7. I'm not bragging on NYC either I'm talking how much of a scumbags they are media wise.

Innate Talent is a real deal, and with a competition like this its even more relevant. I think to increase IQ, you need to supplement inner-wellbeing for a decision making and just being consistent. Indeed! Maybe it’s just me, but i feel like the idea that we were all completely equal at birth in terms of our mental capabilities is getting louder and more prevalent. I think average people just hardly ever meet truly gifted individuals and get to know them, nobody would be convinced of that idea. Physiologically speaking nobody can deny it, because it’s very easily observed, like a 6’8 dude jumping 40 inches for example. Hopium/copium is an easy sell i guess.

I only disagree with his narrative about IQ being the difference maker... naah, not at all, history shows how the champions are usually lead by the "fearless" stereotype, players who don't fold under pressure, they have the killer instinct, etc.. the Celtics is talented, but they don't have a killer to finish games and lead the team all the way. LeBron won championships by overwhelming the opponent with superstar talent, it's easy to talk about "IQ" when you have Wade, Bosh, Kyrie, Davis, etc.. you name it, even Ray Allen coming off the bench. When the game got soft ever since 2010 (and the softness is only increasing ever since), this rule-set benefits playmakers a lot, we had WestBrook averaging a triple double, Harden scoring 35 pts per game, etc.. playmakers like LeBron himself and Jokic, they have a easy time out there. The Celtics plays collective, but their two best players, Tatum and Brown, are the 1v1 kind, they are supposed to take over (like what happened with Butler last playoffs), but they are too weak mentally for that, fold under pressure, commit mistakes, etc.. Jokic is always cold blooded (he doesn't give a shit) and Murray is a goddamn killer, dude had monster performances and people are not talking about him, lol it feels like afro Kobe all over again, the center is highlighted, but the SG is the one killing people out there

What's amazing is just how fitting his nickname "The Joker" is. On the surface, he's just a guy who likes to crack jokes and prank his teammates. However, in playing cards, the Joker is often seen as a wild card, which, depending on the game being played, can sometimes be the most powerful card, a substitute for any card, or hold no value at all. Jokic's playing style embodies this, as he always makes decisions based on what the team needs at that moment, even if that means him scoring 0 pts with 25 assists. This is that high IQ that Bron has such respect for, which usually shines brightest when the player is also unselfish. And of course, what other supervillain is infamously known for his high intelligence, illusions, and unpredictability than The Joker himself? All in all, probably the most fitting nickname in the NBA today, maybe even in all of sports 🤡😉

Steph had his run and now teams found ways to slow his system down. Giannis had a couple years run also. Jokic is the only guy teams don’t have an answer for him yet. So we’ll see in the playoffs if there’s any new tactic to slow Jokic down. If teams still can’t handle him, he will officially be right up there with Lebron and Steph for sure.
@RRRRRRRRR33
@RRRRRRRRR33 2 ай бұрын
Teams can handle him, Nuggets went far because the team was fully healthy and Murray played really well, kinda reminds me the early 00s Lakers, all the eyes on Shaq, but Kobe was dominating. Murray and his shot making ability was not really part of a "system", he bailed out the Nuggets time and time again. Without Murray, Jokic can't even dream to reach the finals imo, it becomes easier to defend the passing lanes and allow Jokic to go 1v1 all game long, tiring him down. That's the formula, let Jokic be the scorer... it's rather easy to contain if Jokic doesn't have all the pieces around him (ironically it's the same formula to limit LeBron as well, this is the generation of playmakers, the soft rules gives them a lot of advantage, similar to the anti-zones who gave advantage to 1v1 players back in the 80s and 90s)

@@RRRRRRRRR33 So, to beat Jokic you give him B-grade players, that Jokic doesn't have a single decent player on his team and that's your plan, clown? To let Jokic to shoot who has 70% of efficiency from the paint when you let him to shoot and that's another plan from you, clown?

@@RRRRRRRRR33 I agree with most of what you said but in my opinion Jokic is the centerpiece of the whole team because most plays run through him as a main screener and passer. Unlike Shaq which he was never required to be a ball handler. Murray is playing his best when he has the ball around Jokic cuz they run plays together through Jokic’a screen. Can they do that without each other? I guess the future will tell but as of now as long as most plays run through Jokic, he’s the most important player in the team. And teams still struggle dealing with him. Also I truly believe MPJ is the most unstoppable shooter in the league right now because of his height and his shooting pace. He’s the second most important player in the Nuggets. Not Murray in my opinion.

@@ZeroSilence8 Until Luka makes it to the finals and dominates (Dallas can win or lose), I’d say teams know how to defend him. Just because he can score 40-50 per game, doesn’t mean it’s the most effective way to have a chance to win. Jokic knows this and that’s why he’s much more dangerous in the playoffs than Luka. Jokic knows when he has to pass more and run plays with his teammates instead of playing iso ball like Luka. It’s much more predictable in the playoffs how to deal with Luka than regular season games. Again, this year with Kyrie could be a game changer. We will have to wait and see.

If talking about purely execution, even Chris Paul has a case to enter on such "team" and he never won a championship. It's deceiving really, the really smart players who can execute plays at the right moment, they are important, but it's not the main factor to win it all. LeBron gushed about it because he is a playmaker exactly like Jokic, but history shows how the champions are usually lead by players with the killer intent, they don't fold under pressure, always executing, etc..

Not only does he mispronounce the last name, something like a combination of Đoković and Jokić, which is disrespectful, if you keep saying that you respect that Jokić so much, at least you can pronounce his name correctly. Also, Americans always mispronounce his name Nikola, I can't tell you that with full confidence because I'm a Serb, so the emphasis is not on the last syllable, but on the first, so, not NikOLA, but NIkola. Also before Nikola Jokić, we have great Serbian scientist Nikola Tesla, who lived and worked in US so long, on of the greatest scientist in history, who lit up the planet, so he deserves at least to learn to pronounce his name correctly.
