As a Lakers fans, this banner disgusts me. We've been laughing for years of teams hanging division banners (especially Clippers), and now I'm forced to admit that even a division title is MUCH more valuable than that "title". To get a division title you need to play almost all of the 82 games in your season. Compare that to the only 7 games in the IST. Just the amount of time and energy needed for each, a division tile is far more valuable. I will say that for teams like mine that have never won and won't for a long time to come. (Thanks MJ) division banners are all they got. But if they do ever win it all I would fully expect and demand to have all the division and conference banners to come down to be replaced with the title banner.

As a huge Lakers and Kobe Bryant fan since I started watching NBA at the age of 12, this is an irrefutable proof that the NBA is completely destroying the essence of the sport that we love so much, in order to increase the 0´s in their bank accounts. Adam Silver and his business partners are the true mercenaries. To put this in perspective in order for a team to win the NBA Championship, (assuming we are not talking about the bubble) they need to play at least 98 games. (regular season + playoffs) And at most 110 games (or more now that the stupid play-in exists) if every round goes to a game 7. Compare this to how many games you need to play to win the IST which is only 7. It is downright evil to try to say that a task that takes almost 6 months and over 100 games to complete is the same as one that takes only 1 month and 7 games.

As a huge LeBron fan this in season tournament was kinda dumb. It’s a cool idea. But for starters it should have happened at game 41. Mid season. It’s possible that it could decide the regular season MVP. Rather than a popular vote contest. The best player on the tournament winning team, Anthony Davis, gets crowned regular season MVP. But then why would role players work hard knowing they’re not winning anything? There’s no winning with this tournament.

I recall when my at the time 11 old son basketball team lost in their playoff game, and were eliminated . After the game their coach gave a soulful speech and presented each player was given a “participation award” (Medallion). When my son and I made it home, i told him to show his medallion to my wife and his younger siblings. He said he did not have it. Well thinking he was emotional over the loss and accidentally left it in the truck, I searched my truck and could not find it, and to my surprise my son actually threw the medallion in the trash. When I asked why he threw away his medallion he responded… “i don’t care about a stupid participation award, I want the trophy that only the winning team gets” Proud to be my sons father! 😂😂
