MJ was crowned the GOAT after his 3rd championship, even tho Magic and Kareem both had more, and Bird had won just as many. Just saying...
@alxfonso4924
@alxfonso4924 3 жыл бұрын
Thats because both magic and bird had the most talent but individually they couldn't impact a game like Jordan could. The eye test tells you thst Jordan is superior. Jordan won with pippin and Rodman. Lebron had Ad wade bosh love .and barely won 2 of the 4 rings. This is a fake debate by the NBA and ESPN to boost rating by having a new Jordan but Lebron falls way short of that

It isn't debatable. He is def top 20 in today's game but def not all time. He won his spurs title on the back of Duncan Parker and Ginobli, and he beat a severely injured warriors team that he would have gotten swept against otherwise. Or 1-4 at best. Had a "so called" stacked team this year and couldn't even get them past Denver. If he was a top 20 all time player he would have willed them past Denver . Tough to argue against his 6 NBA finals losses. Is he the best player in this generation? Absolutely! Is he a top 3 player of all time, absolutely! As a Knicks fan I lived the MJ era through and through and MJ was just different. Teams were a lot more focused on Defense and were a lot more physical. The officiating was obviously less riguorous and what today would be a 10 game suspension, during the late 80's or 90's it was simply a flagrant foul. And so, watching MJ develop and expand his game going up against the Pistons, Pacers, Knicks, Blazers, The Jazz, the Cavs, the Suns, the Supersonics, was remarkable. Every team in the league was designed to stop him and they were never succesful, not once! And that's the biggest difference between the 2. Lebron lost 6 finals.....6........and if you go back to the film, you'll see his lack of situational awareness, his(lack of) clutch play in various situations and even being outplayed by other superstars, see 2011 and 2014. Not only that, he is 1-3(in finals) against one of the most lethal basketball teams the NBA has ever seen, the Warriors. So, to me, those 4 series against the Warriors were his chance to really gain the respect he is looking for. Now, did he elevate his Game in 2016? Absolutely! That was the only time he went into another zone, another frequency, that was the only time Lebron could have a cigar with MJ in the same table, thing is, MJ did it 6 times and never lost, in battle, if you get shot...you lose....The GOAT never got shot!!

Imagine if Lebron was faithful, never gave up and worked hard for 9 years to finally win a Championship for the Cavs then won a 3 peat. Mom gets murdered, goes to an entirely different SPORT, comes back and wins ANOTHER 3 peat. All 6 Finals MVP. One team, one jersey. Never allowed a game 7. No losses. Never froze. 10 scoring titles. 9 time defensives. Hit the highest peak in the history of the game. Vast majority of the world acknowledges him as the GOAT. Then a new kid comes along, loses 6 finals. Hops around team to team to barely win 4. Has played longer than the other guy so he stacks stats, but since he's relevant now, people mention him in the GOAT conversation. Yea... exactly. MJ is GOAT.

Riddle me this, if Lebron can guard all 5 positions, why wasn't he able to do so in 2009 when Dwight Howard and Orlando beat them when Cleveland went 66-16 and were supposed to meet the Lakers in the Finals? Stupid comparisons realy..we could reverse this and say: LeBron before Wade and after.. the thing is that with LeBron he constantly switched to better players whereas Irvin or Wade did not.. LeBron constantly switched teams and bundled with players who might have been a treat to him in order to get rings. Something unheard of by proud and dominant players in early days. We talk about how LeBron shined against the Heat and winning finals MVP?? Realy? A team that actualy had no bussiness going this far. Against better oposition AD was far better in prvious rounds but now it as if LeBron lead the Lakers to Glory. A team effort if you ask me in general

The difference is in the positions they played and what each could, or couldn't, do. Jordan has no weaknesses whereas Lebron does. A main one is Lebron cannot play off the ball so he needs to play point, a position where he consistently controls the ball (That is why he has a difficulttime playing forwardas well, but I digress). It also took him years to become comfortable/effective in playing that position. Jordan played the position towards the end of the 89 season (around 24 games) and almost averaged a triple double during that stretch, while the team finished above .500. He acclimated immediately and got better each game. That is how he finished that season at 32, 8, 8. It is funny how Lebron fans, stans, commentators, and so-called basketball aficionados forget this small morsel of information maybe by lying through omission or convenient amnesia. There is nothing Lebeon can do that Jordan couldn't but there are a few things Jordan could do that Lebron can't.

Jordan has no weaknesses? Broussard might have pronounced "LeBron" wrong because last time I checked, Jordan didn't have a three-point shot. LeBron, on the other hand, if not by consensus the GOAT, is unanimously known as the best all-around player ever.

That is not a weakness. It becomes a weakness, and a detriment, when you overuse that novelty shot. If it was a weakness, Jordan would have never won anything at all. Lebron has a few weaknesses and the rules changes have helped Lebron, and others, along tremendously. Try again.

Lebron averages around 69% of his shots for his career from 10ft on in from the rim. The reason is because of the rules changes that opened the lanes and protect the offensive player (a la Nash, Tony Parker). It is very simple to understand when you watch the game from a cerebral standpoint.

If Nash could win 2 league MVP awards living in the paint how does that not help Lebron and the rest??? And you probably saw Jordan play during the second 3-peat because all you talk about is the 90s. Your knowledge-base is limited. Lebron has weaknesses that would've hindered his game if he played back then. That is a fact. And no he would not dominate in the 90s. Wiley is stupid. MJ only better at iso? Please research stats. Defensive, efficiency, peak performance, etc. I'm not a chips person nor longevity. MJ just is better by advanced metrics, post-season performance and peak performance. If you truly believed in longevity, you would have Karl Malone in your top ten and I don't. MJ led the NBA in scoring 10x and post-season scoring 10x, 1st in PER (player efficiency rating) in NBA history, AND data geeks at FiveThirtyEight created RAPTOR, a “new metric for the modern NBA” in 2019. They explained how they wanted to create a statistic that “better reflects how modern NBA teams actually evaluate players, AND MJ still comes out on top. Not sure you guys understand how AMAZING THIS IS. MJ PLAYED when players didn't follow metrics and efficiency like today's players do, and he still came out #1 in PER AND RAPTOR, which is an advance metric more for today's modern NBA starting from the "Warrior's Era". And who cares about longevity stats that Marcus ended with? Did LeBron lead in points and assists multiple times during the NBA season? NO. So he plays longer and builds up more stats? Is that the primary argument from Wiley? So WEAK.

LeBron will eventualy surpass MJ in stats. But that is logical given the fact that he is still playing for far more seasons than MJ. Does this make him the GOAT then? In that case longevity is the criteria. We should analyse percentage wise. Then we see how much MJ is above LeBron who actualy only effectively played 12 seasons (almost 1 season his ankle was broken). GOAT actualy characterizes Dominance which nobody showed better than MJ. It wasn't only winning but the way he did it. You have to see his full games and not his highlights only to know what i mean. Comming 4th quarter it was like an assurance that MJ would win it. Nobody panicked, just give the ball to MJ and play your part. Thats it. But when you watch LeBron play, do you feel assured that his team will win comming 4th quater? Or do you bite all your nails and hope for the best..that was by far the biggest gap in level and mentality. With MJ you know you'll win, with LeBron you never know. If that isn't the biggest reason for GOAT conversation then i don't know what is..
