@@domtorrato6117 this is the best channel and I am seriously being honest, no personal bias, I had took coaching too, so I can compare better. In my humble opinion sir's coverage of syllabus and understanding of the subject is more deep. Apart from his lectures I think, don't refer to any book or material, you can do value addition from any one source: Tusharnshu sir's notes/nitin sir's book/anything you feel comfortable with. And substantiate your notes with some current examples, refer to toppers copies. Learn these notes, write answers, if possible write every previous year question.

Thanks for sharing this precious content for free, you're a lifesaver for people like us. Akash sir, can you please make a separate video on answer writing for sociology? I've made running notes from the lecture and I have no issues understanding it and the concepts but the problem is answer writing, I'm a beginner (aiming 2024). I wrote some answers after collecting some questions from chap 1, and my answers were horrible so I added some keywords to it, but it's still not even close to a decent answer, so any advice will be appreciated.

Sir, I had a thought I think sometimes value-bais can also be generalized. Poets can make his/her readers fall in love with their beloved, and it's beautiful how we can connect to their beloved. I think that's where the concept of "soft power" comes from.

Sir, how norms and code of conduct are related? Amazing lectures, by the way!! ✨✨
@kaarwan-e-upsc
@kaarwan-e-upsc 2 жыл бұрын
Norms are related to culture which shapes one's behavior/actions/conduct along with values. Code of conduct if seen technically is more formal in nature and is explicitly outlined ( eg. Doctor's COC or a Bureaucrat's COC)..... If seen informally, it represents the general guidelines for behaviour in society.

If u say u want to be or desire to be or prefer to be Value neutral than isn't it a value in itself???. So being value neutral is a tough task..if i prefer to study a topic it will be of my choice again there is some value related to it that's why i chose that particular topic to read but that's the different thing that after choosing i"ll try to be value neutral But i m emphasising more on choice of topic
@kaarwan-e-upsc
@kaarwan-e-upsc Жыл бұрын
Yes... Being value neutral is a tough task...Critics have also argued that value neutrality is a myth and no thinking person could be absolute value neutral....What you have talked about is the concept of value relevance which was propounded by Weber.... He argued that a scholar can identify the topic using his preferences/values...once the topic is selected, he should completely be value neutral while conducting the research.... You will study it later in lectures on Max Weber!!

@@kaarwan-e-upsc Thank u sir for the correction...and somewhere I agree value neutrality is near to non achievable if not impossible....ur bias or prejudice will certainly play their role unknowingly.. Edit: sir what is this term "intersubjective reliability"

Value Neutrality is a part of research process in Positivism.... You could link it to Empiricism also.... An empirical scholar could be value neutral as well.

sir is post positivism and non positivism same i am struggling with the topic of post positivism no where mentioned but asked in 2017 help me sir
@kaarwan-e-upsc
@kaarwan-e-upsc 2 жыл бұрын
Non-Positivism is an umbrella term for all methodologies which rejects the postulates of Positivism..... Post-Positivism is a sub-set of this broad umbrella.... I have talked about it when I was talking about critic of Scientific Method like Karl Popper and Thomas Kuhn..... Don't worry, I will deal with it when I will cover the Chapter of Research Methodologies!!! But if you take a more comprehensive and liberal view of post-Positivism and not the technical view which I have briefly pointed out in the above mentioned paragraph, then I will advise you to consider post-Positivism as equivalent to non-Positivism and incorporate all the non-positivistic approaches (verstehen, hermeneutics, Interactionists and phenomenologists, critical theory and post-Modernists) in your answer, that would be more comprehensive and more marks fetching!!!!
