Sir, in the coin free to move on disc problem, isn't friction necessary for the coin to experience coriolis force in a perpendicular direction? Without friction, the motion of the coin would be just uniform circular wrt rotating frame. Please correct me. And guide me why friction isn't considered here though without it, this path wouldn't be traced.

I think then we would need to consider the force of friction and coriolis force both in the total force as observed in the rotating frame

Why is at all friction necessary for the coriolis force to act? Coriolis is a pseudo force that arises due to non-inertial nature of the frame and nothing else!
