Sir good day I have done a high voltage safety course .where they told me that step of doing IR test 1.isolate both electrically and mechanically 2.connect earth or grounding rod 3.check the Voltage with voltage tester 4. Remove earth or grounding rod 5.connect IR METER and do test . 6.discharge the voltage bcz we are using 5000v dc Where that time I imagined the process within a next couple of days u have Posted a video on that . ( I'll not forgot the procedure sir) Thank you so much 👍

You should use the Polarity Index or Dielectric test method when checking the High Voltage insulation resistance. Also make sure that the AVR and the was isolated or shorted.

This proces is automatic the voltage is discharged with the instrument current pass throw the lead once you stop generated voltage test don't remove the lead and you can see the voltage display go down untill come to 0 (cero) voltage finis discharged complete
