Well we know what Lecrae did:the response we never thought we needed and we're happy with this

To me it sounded like Kendrick was looking at Lecrae as guidance. Someone who may make an opposing decision
@jag42968Ай бұрын
Lecrae has mentioned before that he and Kendrick are friends, so might just be a friendly shout out.

I think this is like a friend putting his hand on your shoulder before you do what you’re about to do.

Its an exploratory question - like an inner thought voiced out loud. Its a reply in allegiance with Dot - not in contrariness. Of course its.NOT a diss, he knew L would do good- thats why he called him out as an ally against a corrupt system.

You got exactly why Kendrick said something about Lecrae and I love it that someone finally gets it but they also friends

I think maybe you're misconstruing why Lecrae was mentioned. It was more a question of moral guidance than suggesting Lecrae partakes in the party culture. And a play on "What would Jesus do?". Kendrick is placing him as a moral authority to look to.
@whatitdodaveАй бұрын
No I understood that. My questioning was along of the lines as to why choose lecrae out of all the other christian rappers. But I guess it was because they are close friends. That's the info I was missing.

Kendrick wants to burn mainstream rap down and build something new from the ashes. Lecrae shares a similar perspective but is putting his faith in God that he will change the narrative of the genre over time. The narrative can't shift from one or two people alone, if it could, the Kendrick/Drake beef would have led to long-term changes and it clearly didn't. The best that can happen is either let time pass, or we have to come together to make the change as listeners, after all, we listen to/support the music and trends.

I took "devil's wages" to mean sin. Taxes aren't the concern in hip hop culture. It's souls that these artists are discussing.

Kendrick wants to reset hip hop. Watch the party was a call to arms . I feel he wanted to save it but he dont think it is hope. He wants to burn it down and start over to me. We losing too many of young men to gang culture and drug overdoses. And then it is glamorize in and pushed on our youth by the corporations. I wish other rappers would take on the challenge with kendrick. That is my take

What would LeCrae do if he was in Kendrick's shoes, at the top of the hip hop mountain, and facing an industry that promotes groomers, predators, manipulators, bullies, pushers, and addicts. Would he find another, more peaceful way to fight for the soul of the culture? Kendrick seems to be holding LeCrae up as an example of what he believes is a better example... even though he "chose (lyrical) violence.
