Knox, Lecrae's line about his righteous deeds being period blood on a dirty rug was an allusion to a Bible verse that says all our righteous deeds are as filthy rags. The meaning being, before a holy God, none of our good deeds wipe out our sins. It wasn't about differing values of people, it was about the reality of our sinfulness before a holy God.

How could anyone think Christianity teaches people to be good people when you say shit like this.
@JoeyDecayАй бұрын
@TheReddaredevil223 because you don't understand what this means. It's not saying don't do good deeds. It's saying that yr deeds themselves will not save you. Christ want us to do acts of charity and love our neighbors, but the belief that Christ is Lord and has died for our sins and rose from the dead and ascended into heaven is what saves us ultimately. There's also a verse that says faith without works is dead, but so are works without faith. Faith is what saves you through the good that Christ taught us to live by.

The period blood is a reference to Isaiah 64:6. The word “dirty rags” used in it was LITERALLY in Hebrew the rags that were used for women’s MENSTRUAL cycles. The point is that we are so wretched compared to God’s perfection thst even our “righteous deeds” are basically like used tampons. This is why only God could come down and get us. We can never earn our way to Him. “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.”
@saraesmoonАй бұрын
You know what would be dope.....if there was another rapper who raps in Kendricks ear telling him violence is the only answer, and they turn this into a "series" where Kendrick acts on his decision in the end, based on the advice of both sides of his conscious.
