to those who are confused about the sp3 is not really about the electron configuration. its about the kind of Intermolecular bond it has. if it doesn't have a double bond (no pi bond) it's sp3.with double bond, it's sp2 (2 pi bonds) and only SP for triple bonds (linear). dont worry about the detailed explanation that much. just remember sp3 has no double bond, sp2 for a double bond, with triple bond is Sp1 (no need to say sp1 bc if it's 1 its automatic invisible haha) so just write Sp

Hello! I am starting a biochem in the fall, and I love the opportunity to get started on my learning with these videos! I have to know! How has your journey to medical school gone so far? I also am dying to know what the "BF" stands for in your username! Thank you for making this series so selflessly!

I am applying to med school right now! I’ve gotten multiple interviews and have several interviews in August. I hope I get accepted somewhere! As for the BF, those are my initials. I’m supremely glad that you’ve decided to study with me! Thank you so much and God bless you!! :^)

Isn't the separation of mixed oil and water decreasing entropy and is more organized since water is on its own and oil is on its own so its not as random? I'm so confused by this topic, please any explanation would be helpful
@bftinylectures4362
@bftinylectures4362 5 ай бұрын
Initially, entropy increases as the water and oil molecules are mixed. as the oil and water molecule separate, entropy decreases. You are correct. Transiently, entropy increases as the solution is mixed. Always remember that entropy increases in the universe, as disorder increases overtime. Think of it as like a room: initially, the entropy in the clean room is low, but as time progresses and more and more trash accumulates, the entropy increases.

This is probably a stupid question, but how do I know if it is a strong or weak acid? Do I need to know it to use Henderson equation?
@bftinylectures4362
@bftinylectures4362 3 жыл бұрын
For acids, the smaller the pKA, the stronger the acid. The larger the pKa, the weaker the acid. If an acid is weak, then it'll be a strong base. If an acid is strong, it'll be a weaker base. Typically, the pKa values are given to you. If you want to think intuitively, acids that want to become more stable will be more reactive and thus have a smaller pKA. For instance, CF3 is a lot more reactive than CF because it has two more Fluorides. Since CF3 is more reactive, it wants to accept (acids accept) electrons. Therefore, it'll be a weak base and have a low pKa. You could use the Henderson equation if you're given the information, too.
