Dr. Hoffmeier has noted that 1 Kings 6:1 has 480 years elapsing from the Exodus to Solomon's 4th year, giving an Exodus date of circa 1447/1446 BC. Elsewhere, Hoffmeier and Kenneth Kitchen (another Egyptologist) have noted that almost 600 years appears to elapsed from the Exodus to Solomon's 4th year. They derive this number by adding up the years mentioned for the 40 years Exodus wandering, Joshua, the Judges, the reigns of Saul and of David, then Solomon. This gives an Exodus date of circa 1567 BC, in the reign of Pharaoh Ahmoses I (circa 1570-1546 BC), founder of the 18th Dynasty, who expelled the Asiatic Hyksos from Egypt, sending them back to Canaan. The Jewish scholar Flavius Josephus (circa 70 AD) thought the Hyksos expulsion was Israel's Exodus. Josephus had calculated that approximately 592 years had elapsed from the Exodus to Solomon's 4th year, giving an Exodus circa 1559 BC. Points in common for the Hyksos expulsion being the Exodus: This period is the only one where a large Asiatic population is expelled to return to Canaan, the Bible has Pharaoh expelling Israel (Ex 11:1), who heads for Canaan. Dame Kathleen Kenyon excavated Jericho and determined its last wall was destroyed by Ahmoses' Egyptian forces when they pursued the Hyksos back to Canaan, conquering it, and making a vassal state of it for approximately 400 years. The Bible has Joshua and Israel, recently from Egypt, destroying Jericho's walls. We have a match-up, people from Egypt destroying Jericho. It's hard to believe that Ramesses II was the pharaoh of the time of the Exodus out of Egypt. The Exodus was more likely around c.1446BC, based upon: the time genealogy of the Bible since Adam; 1Kings 6:1 480 years back from the 4th year of the reign of Solomon; and the genealogy of the Judges and the events that took place in that time in relation to the pharaohs of Egypt. The timing of the Exodus could hardly have been in the days of Ramesses II about 1270BC.

Ahh, his critical error is Exodus 1:11 Ramses, assuming this storage city MUST mean it has something to do with a New Kingdom Pharaoh. Hundreds of years earlier, though, Joseph sees his brothers settle in 'The Land of Ramses', according to Genesis.

you do know that Genesis was not written at the time of Joseph and God is not on trial in his word? this means that he is communicating to what is known at the time it is written rather than what would be scientifically accurate truth. the worldview of the ancients is how God communicated to them in Genesis 1-2:3 rather than by using our 21st century worldview which is much more accurate than theirs was. This is why it helps to know the background of the people to whom it was written. also keep in mind updates were made to places and names over time so the people would still know the connection. just like Moses' death recorded in a book he wrote.

It is ironic the Wyattists have cited Hoffmeier in the matter of the chariot wheels (e.g. 8-spokes date only to Dynasty 18). Also, the forts were only abandoned when the Philistines came in the early (first, failed wave) to late (second, successful wave) 12th C BC.

I've taken people to task on the wyatt chariot wheels on both sides. One side makes the claim and won't go look more closely at the evidence. The other side dismisses the claims out of hand and won't go review the evidence. It would be nice if someone would just go look at the evidence and put it to rest. I went off about this on the facebook page of Dr. David Rohl one night when I'd had enough hearing about it. As to dates, a lot of this is conjectural right now because of the corrupt chronology we are working with today. So it's a little difficult to situatie things in such a corrupted chronology and one has to, as Rohl has done, reconstruct the chronology to some extent using actual evidence instead of contrivances. The doing harmonizes a great deal of history across multiple cultures and lines them up appropriately to where what's going on actually makes sense. How far one can go with that as of now is anyone's guess.

He is flummoxed by the term mfkzt. The questioner knows about the work of Ralph Ellis, who thought it referred to monatomic gold. It actually is an Egyptian term for turquoise, being mined in the Sinai etc.

For those who wonder, flummoxed definition to bewilder; confound; confuse. The time stamp for this question is 5:50-6:05

Hoffmeier mentions Egyptian _mfk't_ , "turquoise" (p.168. James K. Hoffmeier. _Ancient Israel in Sinai_. 2005. Oxford University Press). He would have no idea about a word spelled _mfkzt_. He was flummoxed by an apparently misspelled word!

It was 1511 BCE according to the bible's own chronology. However, the egyptologist have an inaccurate dating system started by Champollion..... if one accepts these dates one starts with an error. If you do not accept this dogma you do not get to dig.

Archaeological proofs the Exodus is fiction as presented in the Bible: The Bible has Joshua setting fire to Jericho after its defensive wall collapses. Dame Kathleen Kenyon re-excavated Jericho in the 1950s and discovered its last defensive wall collapsed due to an earthquake and that the city thereupon was set on fire, for ash was everywhere. She associated this event with the Hyksos Expulsion from Egypt circa 1540 BC by Pharaoh Ahmoses I founder of the 18th Dynasty. She understood that after expelling the Hyksos from Egypt, Ahmoses then pursued after them, to Canaan, capturing that land and making it a vassal state of Egypt for the next 400 years. Joshua is presented in the Bible setting fire to Hazor after his having burned Jericho. Israeli archaeologists have excavated Hazor and confirmed it was set on fire for ash was found everywhere throughout the city. They (Yigael Yadin and Ammon Ben Tor) dated this event to the mid 13th century BC. However, another Israeli archaeologist, Moshe Dothan, had excavated at Hazor, before Yadin and Ben Tor, and found there two Philistine pottery sherds. Archaeologists understand the Philstines arrived in Canaan circa 1175 BC as a sub-group of the Sea Peoples. After conquering coastal Canaan they attempted to conquer Egypt and were defeated by Pharaoh Rameses 3rd. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR JOSHUA TO BURN JERICHO CIRCA 1540 BC AND HAZOR AFTER 1175 BC AS THESE TWO SITES' BURNING WAS SEPARATED BY AN ELAPSE OF 300 YEARS! Ergo, the Bible's Exodus account is fiction and never happened as presented.
