Akobian is such a patient and focussed teacher, all about the chess. Every answer is met not with a cutting comment or such like, but just a move that exposes its potential weakness. Really enjoy his instructive lectures.

I’m shocked it ended up so close at the end for such a dominant opening and mid game. Had to be a great opponent to not loose quicker... great game! I don’t win unless I have 2 rooks or queens or a combo. 😂😂🍻

25:52 hey, why not afer ...g5; fxg6 Bf2 ? Using the same idea as a line before, looks winning.
@YoDempsey10 жыл бұрын
Davin, watch again very closely, at 25:52, when the black g7 pawn tries to move to g5. He says "but if takes...", and then he moves the white pawn at f5 to g6, capturing the black pawn. That's an "en passant" capture of the pawn, so it's very legal. Note that Akobian first shows the case where the white f5 pawn doesn't take the en passant capture.

at 18:45 instead of Nf4 Qh4 seems, at a glance, to lead to some interesting lines as well. There's the dark square bishop at c4 eyeing down the g1 square, then there's the pawn close to queening, and posing a possible threat to the rook on f1, while white has the other rook blocked by bishop and thus cannot take the queen with pawn. And lastly the white pawn at f5 is pinned...well kinda at least. Didn't calculate the lines to the end thou, but seemed interesting enough to mention.

in the position @35:27, he missed the brilliant 33...Be3!! forcing the win of the exchange with a crushing finish: 34.Re1, Re8!! 35.Rh1, Bf4!! 36.Bxf4, e1=Q and White can resign. An example of his lesson point not letting his shock and disappointment about overlooking White's 31.h4 resource distract him from looking ever deeper into the position for a line that secures the "lock" of a well-deserved full point!

You play amazing!! I found this variation: after Re4 black play Ng3+ hg Qh4+ Rh5 Rf1+ Kh2 R:e1 R:h4 Bh1+ Kh2 R:a1 und e1Q

26. ... Ng3+ is also winning immediately, a move people found during lecture ( 30:00 ) .Akobian admitted indirectly through his body language that he did not see this move :)

at 18:30 why not rook to d8, white queen takes the pawn. than push black pawn e2. Neyt move rook to d1 and gg?
@danielmanahan69211 жыл бұрын
13:20 the knight does not have to move because white's f pawn is pinned to the backrow mate on f1.

9:02 doesn’t Bb5 win the exchange? He can’t block and if Re1 Bxf2+
@pascalbernhard56806 жыл бұрын
hvitekristesdod sounds very reasonable for me, only thing maybe: Bb5, Knightxh7, Rxh7, Bxh7 and then if you take the rook on f1 your night is hanging and your king side damaged?

In fact! when he says that he is happy that after messing up he still showed good technique, the computer begs to differ and tells us that exactly at that moment he missed another decisive winning shot (as is very often the case). After h4! Rf1 Kh2 Rxb1 Rxb1, he should have played Be3! Re1 Re8, winning an exchange and the game

After white Qb1, Rook h4 seems to win: - Rh4, Be1 Rf4, h4 Rf1+, Kh2 Bd6+, g3 Bxf3, Bxf3 RxQb1, RxRb1 Kf5xg3!, Re1 Rf1 and its over. The idea is to force whites black bishop onto e1 and have the rook on the e-file take over the f4 square ... this wins the game :-)

Akobian seems to have huge patience. If all those little snot-nosed geeks had been in my class, laughing and giggling and making fun of his game/moves, I'd have kicked them out, even if it meant I'd ended up speaking to only myself. His style, of course, is the more admirable one, but I'm embarrassed for him by the lack of respect from the audience. Awesome lecture, awesome game, awesome training!
@SuperYtc110 жыл бұрын
This is why you are sat on KZbin making stupid comments and he is lecturing. It's a joke and he was laughing with them. I don't think anyone would want to be in any room let alone classroom with such an arrogant and negative person such as you.
@YoDempsey10 жыл бұрын
Good for you, SuperYtc1! Glad you can see everything negatively. You should hone that trait the rest of your life! However, if you tried reading my comment again, with objectivity, you'd see that I was hugely complimenting Akobian. I have come to love his videos and training. In no other class on this channel have I ever seen the audience/kids misbehave so badly. If you think my comment is a "stupid comment," that's fine. But sadly, I was trying to leave a strong compliment for Akobian--that's all. Oh, and yes, I noticed that he was laughing along with them, but it was an uncomfortable laugh, if I remember correctly. And BTW, I have lectured numerous times--not on chess--but on AI, neuroscience, supercomputing, transhumanism, etc., as an invited scientific speaker--in places such as Tehran, Beijing, London, Jerusalem, Melbourne, Tokyo, and many, many other places. I've never lectured to a bunch of unruly or disrespectful kids, though, and I was shocked by their behavior on this video. I wouldn't have taken it as well as Akobian did. Thus, my respect to Akobian, pure and simple! Deep respect, in fact. That was my *main* point--hopefully, a very positive one. Thanks for your comments, though. I'll keep them in mind next time.

Yo Dempsey While you see it as being rude, other people see it as some light hearted fun and kids just enjoying their time. You see the negative side, because you're a negative person. Don't try to bring others down to your level.
