Thanks for the video. I will be installing a similar one today on my interceptor. I hope I don’t experience the same issue. I put on on my Himalayan last year and have had zero problems for 15K miles. I also found a flashing brake light bulb to swap in. You might consider joining the Amazon affiliate program and providing affiliate links to the products you feature. It would be one more little trickle of revenue.

Thanks for stopping by and for the tip. Coincidentally I did join the affiliate program. I made $2 last month lol. Maybe if I had more cool things to link I’d get a little more traffic. Interesting thing about this light: I know or have heard of several people using this same light or another from the same manufacturer. They’ve had no issues. Mine just didn’t like that particular model.

It has been a while and perhaps you have already solved the problem, but here goes anyway. If you will take the left side cover off you will find four relays. The RE factory gobs on a ton of white (lithium?) grease in the sockets for waterproofing, I guess. Anyway a lot of people (including me) have found that the bike runs a lot more reliably if you clean out ALL the grease with electrical contact cleaner. Many people also replace the relays with higher quality units.

Late up on this one mate sorry! Have you got a short somewhere in the headlight shell? It's pulling just enough out of the alternator to kill the ignition maybe until you rev the bike so the alternator can power the ignition circuit? Could be one of the spring clips, that's where I'd look first. Good luck my friend!

I'm pretty certain it was just a faulty unit. I got a replacement and everything seems to be working normally. Next video is currently uploading and should be viewable in the morning. I talk about that a bit.

Mike, at 3:45 in your video you were asking about the little led light. It's the drl used in India. The Indian version has the extra option to turn off the headlight. In the US is wired to always on when you turn on the ignition. Probably the law here I guess?

Oh that’s good to know. Didn’t realize that! So the law here isn’t quite as cut and dry if I understand it correctly. Manufacturers are required to build the motorcycles with the headlight always on. I believe (and I could be wrong) that the owner can create a switch if they wanted to but most won’t ever bother with it.

Very strange indeed. The only thing e can think of is that it's a faulty headlight unit and it's asking for way too much power. I have a replacement coming soon.

That is strange that an led would cause that since it technically draws less power to run. Hopefully you get it sorted.

I haven't gotten it fully sorted yet. Chatting with some people on a forum, I think it's simply a poorly manufactured headlight. I went for a ride for over 2 hours after I edited this video and it was fine as long as I didn't hit the high beam.

They put to much grease on the relays. Need cleaning, and fit better one's, they are behind the left hand side, panel.

I exchanged this one for an identical model, thinking I just had a bad one. The new one did the same thing. I returned it completely and bought a whole different model from a different manufacturer. This brand has glowing reviews from a lot of my Harley friends. This model and others by the same maker. Not sure why it didn't get along with the Royal Enfield.

@@nataliamiliano150 btw I don’t recommend this light specifically. It does something with the ecu and kills the bike when you hit the high beams. The one I ended up with is from eagle lights. Middle of the road on cost and works great.

Sorry to see the bike stall like that. Did you check if the pilot/drl lamp socket was left open. My guess is that could be the reason. Else you might need a relay for the new headlamp unit. How much wattage is the new headlamp?

I left those pilot wires unplugged. Wonder how that would influence this.

@@UncleBogator if there's a loose contact there could be messing with the electricals. Let me also discuss with our riding groups and see what it could be. I'll have a quick look see on my headlight as well. I just upgraded the bulb to night eye led and so far no issues.

@@UncleBogator right. Yes that shouldn't affect the bike like this. That'll just result in a dead fuse and your lights won't work.

Mike I can confirm from a good friend it's a relay issue. The wattage of the headlamp unit esp in high beam is draining the battery and real quick and hence the shut off. A relay is the best way to solve it.

Not that I’m aware of. I don’t particularly trust it fully. I use the old way and watch my mileage. I fill up at about 115 miles.

I ended up returning this headlight after trying 2 different ones. It was making my engine turn off when I hit the high beam. I did replace it with another one that works well.
