i fixed mine lg 47sl80 ccfl backlight :) i had to replace the main power supply board which i managed to find for 38€ with postal fee :) then i heard a sparking sound from a display and had to take it apart to find that at the end of one tube, there was some arcing going on... i remade the insulation under the spot where it was arcing and rolled all the tubes to revive the connections, clean all the dust and smudge out and put it back together, which was even harder then taking it apart... and it works :) thank you man! i saw most of your vids :) you helped me a lot! regards from sLOVEnia!

Narrowed it down to the PS by isolating it and was still blowing fuses. Figured I would just grab the board rather than troubleshoot parts because I just don't have the time right now. Ordered the board and took a while but they upped it to USPS priority and made it here. Put the PS in and works perfect! This was the perfect curb find! I highly recommend them and give them a little time because it may come from a different warehouse. Thanks!

Good review. What about other Vizio models? Are the symptoms going to be about the same for diagnostics? Case in point. We have a 6 year old P702ui-B3 that began to power on without the V logo, it had back light but barely could see the menu when activated. Sound worked fine. Turned the unit off, then back on and it displayed the V during boot up and functioned just fine. This process repeated itself every time the TV was turned on for about 2 months. Then, while on we witnessed the picture begin to fade and alter then finally no picture but had sound. Turned the TV off and it never powered on since. So, the current status is, it will not power on at all and we did the reset procedure of removing the power cord and holding down the power button on the back for a minute. That failed to clear up anything. Called Vizio and they simply said it's not worth repairing, likely the backlight. At this point, we want to diagnose this and see if it might be worth saving since it was a rather expensive model at the time. Go through the same procedure as in this video?

Great channel. I have a 58 inch Hisense tv. Red LED light goes on for one long and two short durations. Replaced Power, mother and Tcon boards with no change. No image, no sound, just the LED light going on one long and two short. Any idea?

I have an old LG tv and the standby light is on. Sometimes it will turn on with the power button and sometimes it will not. When it's on, the power button always works to turn it off. The rest of the functions work when it does power up. However, it will not keep the current time when I enter the current time. I reset to factory specs on the unit and it works normally for awhile after I do that. But then it goes back to powering up occasionally and the current time sets back to dashes, it will not keep the time. Here's my question: Is this more likely to be a problem with the power module or the main module? I want to try to replace them, but I wondered which one I should try first. On computers, I know there is a battery that keeps the current time clock running. I wonder if there is a similar battery on these televisions and if there is, which module does the battery sit on? have a dead 60 inch visio led. Power surge from hdmi port fried the chips there. Changed out the t-con board figuring that was the issue. Still wont power up or have standby power. Power board fuse intact and no obvious burn or bulging capacitors. Have new power board on the way, but wondering if you have any ideas ???? love the channel, I've watched every video. That's why I'm still stumped !

I have a Sharp Aquos Model# 65N7000U. Last night we had a storm come through and when I went to bed the TV was fine. Got up this morning and the red LED indicator light is not on and the TV will not come on. TV is plugged into a surge protector but also has an outside antenna plugged in. i was inspecting and testing various points on the BN94-04689A board and when I did the same to the BN94-04689B I noticed the A board has an extra small switch soldered on and because it is a mechanical type very small button. do you happen to know that the differences are?

I love your videos on electronic troubleshooting & repairs. I am now shopping for a decent Fluke multimeter so I too can follow along & revive TV's. I have a Visio E60-E3 that I took apart to repair a sag in the very front screen layer due to some broken parts on the bezel. After repairing the bezel now the TV will not present the brand logo or anything on the screen. When I hit the power the backlight comes on with no indicator light, then the indicator light flashes once as the screen goes black before starting this cycle of backlight on/one indicator flash/black screen rinse & repeat. Got any guesses as to which board to replace while I look for a multimeter?

Hi when I plug my inverter board in (hyundai Q321 inverter board the tv will not come up and stalls to standby with power drops. When unplugged the rest of the tv works, all the capacitors look ok throughout the boards. I am fairly sure the psu is ok as the main board works as the tv tunes and gives audio from tv channels but stalls to standby when the inverter board is plugged in do you think a new board will cure the problem. Over the past year the tv has taken longer and longer to come on like an old valve tv.)

BTW I have this same tv that I have not been able to get running. Half the screen is out so I assumed it was the T-con board. I ordered a new one but it didn't fix it. I swapped the ribbon cables too, no go. It's not the leds either. I am assuming the problem is on the section where the ribbon from the T-con plugs into that side of the screen. Hey Tampa, you're videos are awesome man, thanks for teaching us all about the electronics we use on the daily. My vizio TV (e500i-b1) when i power it on sometimes it blinks the backlights, then you can hear sound, but its black. I turn it off and try to power on, sometimes it will work and display right and wont turn off during watching or gameplay. But once i turn it off it it may blink the backlights or not come on at all, again sound etc still there. if i unplug for 5 mins it turns on normally as soon as you plug it in, but it'll go back to the behavior i mentioned. Hello Tampatec I have a Hitachi LE55A6R9A, it turns on but has a very faint screen that I'm able to see with a flashlight, also i have no sound. I tested the stand by voltage with set plugged in but not turned on, I didn't get no reading on the 3.3 volts, but i did get a reading on the other (3) 12 volt, I'm wondering if I'm supposed to get the 3.3 stand by volts or not? Oh I believe there are 2 bad diodes on the power supply board, can you plz help. I just ran into an RCA TV that has an FRC board. First time I've seen a TV with one of these. What is the purpose of this board? I can't find any info at all on what it does. The TV had a no picture issue but had backlights. I did a reflow on this FRC board which fixed the issue for now. Im just curious to find some technical info on this board.

Have you ever swapped screens from different model TVs to repair one that had a cracked screen or other screen issues. Such as a damaged outer layer or viewing layer of the screen? I have a monitor which has this issue. I think my nephew scratched the top layers of the screen. When turned on w/o an input, where the screen is just blue. In a couple of areas I can see white, which I assume to be the backlight shining straight through. Is there a way to fix & what would you recommend? Thanks!

Hi Tampa tec, I have 2 Vizio TV's. Both stopped working on the same day. I called Vizio, they say both need repair. I checked the internet, can't seem to find anyone who has my issue. Both TV's turn on. Both TV's work, screen, icon, input, etc. Both turn off about 3 minutes or less after turning on. I've completed all the resets I could find. Followed all the Vizio steps from their tech, but nothing works. Do you have any ideas?

Hey there! Thanks for the great videos! I have a Sceptre X40 with no power, no picture, no lights, no sound. The screen flashed off, red power light stayed on, then picture came back on with sound as normal, then everything went dead within seconds. There is power going into power supply from plug but no power voltage from pin. I thought I was getting standby voltage but it goes back to 1. 2011 March Samsung PN43D400A2DXZC. Totally failed during 6 week absence. There is 120v at fuse, no clicking,, no red light,, no green light on logic board. No VS and no Va reading on Power supply board. No reading at 2 large 450v capacitors. The volts are correct on both STBY 5 V and PS ON 3.71 .going to main board. The Main board does have some extreme heat at IC 106 & 109. I am considering replacing the Power Supply and Main board.

okay my model I don't think has T com board, And I have a working back light, I can leave one of the two ribbon cables connected coming out of the logic board and I can get Half my TV to work, but when I try with both ribbon cables It makes a bad high pitch noise coming from one of the boards and the entire image will have lines in it and, I'd like to note if I leave the TV alone unplugged for long time, and come back it works for about 5 minutes before it starts doing this again.

Hi, I am having trouble with my Samsung UN46D6400 LED TV. When I power on the TV, it starts with a Gray screen with few black horizontal lines and then the screen blacks out. It has sound (loud and clear) but no picture. TV has backlight. I saw a video on a youtube channel where it was suggested that if TV has Backlight as well as the sound, in majority of cases it's a bad TCON board. I replaced the TCON board but the issue still persists in the same form. It still has sound and backligth but no imaget. Hi Tampatec im from Brazil i love your videos, i have a Sharp LC 32r24b , when i insert the ac cable they give me blinking leds the power led and the ocp led alternating , i check my power suplay and i get in the conector to main bord the voltage ac=3.3v and the BU5V=5.2v if i press power buton i get a signal of 2.7v very quickly 1 secound from the main bord Ps On and theY all shutdown the ac voltage and the bu5v from stanbay gone to 0.6v. I try to arm the power suplay without conected to the main bord with a resistor of 1k betwin the bu5v and the Ps on, i ear a doble click from the relé and i do not get any voltage from 13v and others. What you think? is a issue of the power suplay, the power suplay goes to protection mode maybe? Thanks very much for your atencion Tampatec.

I have a challenge for you. My Vizio Smart TV started acting crazy yesterday. Started getting varying degrees of stripes of green data streams running vertically down the picture, just like in the movie the Matrix. Then it just started turning itself off. Sometimes the pic would freeze then it would turn off. I would turn it back on and and then 30 seconds later it would turn off again. Any idea what's up with that?

Hi Fred, looks like i have 5 volts standby, but no 12 volts and i get no voltage when i hit power switch. Main logic board problem?

Hi I am new to this and your videos have helped me so much in repairing stuff, could u please tell me where u find your schematics from for TVs as I have a LG 52LD550-ZC with a power out put problem on the main board and cannot find the fault, there is no 12v or 24 volt out put showing on the meter, Thanks in advance Sean

What was the fix on your Mother's Vizio? I have a Vizio & it does the same thing! The screen comes on for a split second & then goes black. It does have audio though! Which board do you think it is???

Hi friend. I have my LG 42LH20-UA tv, the problem with it is that I turn it on and it lasts on for a long time and it turns itself off and turns on again and again .. I think maybe it is the Main board. can you help me ? Sorry if I say wrong, I'm from Mexico :)
