This is my favorite LZ album! Every criticism I had for previous efforts are non-existent here. Every track fits and flows, even the weirder ones like “The Crunge” and “D'yer Mak'er.” I think this is their peak as a band. Everyone is just doing cool shit, contributions up the wazoo. And this is maybe just before Plant fucks up his voice in the tour, so there’s that. But like you said, this album is fun. Another badass video, Jeff. Cheers!

Thank you! It’s so hard to rank these albums because they are all so good but unlike some of their other albums this one plays great no matter my mood.

My favorite Zep album and you made a phenomenal video! Every song is killer. I love how it opens with The Song Remains The Same and The Rain Song. The Crunge is a top 10 song for me.

I’m really enjoying this. Wtf? Hurricane footage for The Rain Song? You kill me lol. Oh hey, there’s my man Son House! Oh man these pictures and the footage is edited so well. You’ve got all this footage from The Song Remains The Same, but then you mix it with home movies from same time period. Love it. No Quarter without the vocals definitely has a early Floyd feel. Led Zeppelin were so good they made other bands shit their pants in fear of getting destroyed by them. When I see the concert footage I can only imagine how cool it would have been to see them on this tour. Great work Jeff!

Thanks Gary! What a time to be old enough to see the mighty Led Zeppelin. Those concerts kicked ass. And they only did 14 dates in the U.S? What’s up with that?

1973 what a year to be a Led Zeppelin fan. Some of their best live shows in LA & NYC. Side note John Paul Jones worked with R.E.M. doing string arrangements on Automatic for the People :) ....took me a while to get The Crunge now I love it of course. Nice job Jeff !!

Thanks Vance! Yeah I had forgotten about the John Paul Jones/R.E.M. connection. 1973 was indeed a great year to be a Zep fan. They seemed to be invincible and unstoppable.

I have always really liked HOTH.....The Song Remains the Same and The Rain Song is arguably the best one-two punch to start off a Zep album. I'm guessing George Harrison only heard songs (not whole albums) from LZ at the time of his ballad comment....that's why Page "borrowed" a few notes of "Something" in The Rain Song. Aside from The Crunge....which is basically a musical joke without a good punchline.....side one is pretty stellar. Side two.....fantastic. Great video once again!
@jeffwhitchervinyldestinati4486 Жыл бұрын
Thank you John! I think if they had stuck the title song on side one in place of The Crunge this would be in more people’s conversation of the best Zeppelin album. Side two is superb.

Another fine video . This is my second favourite Led Zeppelin album . The wonderful No Quarter , Over the Hills & Far Away , The Song Remains the Same , The Ocean , Dancing Days , and The Rain Song . The only track that I'm not a fan of is The Crunge . , for all of the reasons that you stated . Dyer Maker is ok , but the rest are all great . The live version of No Quarter is even better , on the Song Remains the Same . They stretch it out with John Paul Jones' spooky keyboards , and then Page goes nuts on the guitar . Sensational stuff . Thanks !!!

Led Zeppelin V aka Houses of the Holy is a perfect album. It makes me wonder why the song Houses of the Holy isn’t on it, but it will appear on the Physical Graffiti double album? Perhaps a marketing ploy? Another great video. Thx Jeff.

Not too long ago, I remember I had quite a vivid dream of stepping upon a mass of those greenish stones, like the ones on this album cover, for whatever reason. I wasn't naked to my knowledge, however, and thank God, but it was quite an enthralling experience within my subconscious psyche, to say the least. Didn't know where my final destination would've been either, had the dream continued further to a climax of sorts, but I trust it would've been somewhere over the rainbow mountains and into an iridescent sunset of the sonic stratosphere of no return...

was listening to a sabbath song and noticed a zeppelin thing i never noticed before. thrill of it all. there is a particular guitar sound jimmy has on their song heartbreaker. that funny sound of the pick striking the string. must be a kind of picking technique that sounds like the pick is striking the string maybe too hard. its real subtle but it a cool attack sound on the single string lines they play. saw a live thing that was kind of recent where alex lifeson was getting that same string strike sound. i keyed in on it and just thought, cool he learned the jimmy thing or, he stumbled upon it not thinking that way?
@jeffwhitchervinyldestinati4486 Жыл бұрын
I think Sabbath and Zeppelin were fans of each other so it wouldn’t surprise me if Page showed Iommi that trick? Of course it’s pure speculation but I see your point.
@leechild4655 Жыл бұрын
i thought this too. he must have at least asked how he got that particular sound.And i`m sure jimmy told him exactly how it was done and, sure he can use the technique if he chooses. jimmy was good to everyone in his circle@@jeffwhitchervinyldestinati4486
