The Mad Lad finally did it! Thanks for being patient with me (I think I got to day 63 so this is like an early Christmas present) This is my ranking it changes depending on the day and my mood I think their first six can be interchangeable, they're all neck in neck in terms of quality. This is where things currently stand for me: 1. Led Zeppelin II (I love the riffs on this one, it's heavy, it's bluesy). 2. Physical Graffiti (Has some nice variety-The Rover is a beast of a song, Trampled Under Foot is a perfect funk rock song) 3. Led Zepplin IV (Great album that goes without saying, it's lower because I've overplayed it to death) 4. Led Zeppelin I (A great introduction to the band, like the raw sound and energy) 5. Houses of the Holy (One of their most creative albums, it's unique, love No Quarter, Over the Hills and Far Away, and The Ocean) 6. Led Zeppelin III (Interesting acoustic pieces, folky at times, they were trying something different) 7. In Through the Out Door (Cool concepts they tried with synthesizers, All My Love is an interesting track) 8. Presence (Achilles Last Stand is the standout track, John Paul Jones has that gallop bass line that inspired guys like Steve Harris of Iron Maiden) 9. Coda (I don't really count this one but if I had to list it, it would go here). Maybe you could have a second channel and call it Quest for Rock. You should do Queen next. Thanks for doing this video!

Nothing wrong with doing a rock band ranking on a metal channel, for rock and metal are in the same family. Lol But yeah, great band. An essential rock band. Glad you did this ranking man! Great Video Quest! I’ve always loved Zeppelin, I think you should tackle King Crimson next and in honor of Charlie Watts… The Rolling Stones, that would be a very interesting way to keep going on the classic rock journey. I love classic rock, my heart belongs to black metal forever though. Here are my LZ rankings: 1. Physical Graffiti (Lots of hits on this album and it’s different from what they did in the past) 2. IV (I love this album and was the actual first Zeppelin album I got as a kid) 3. II (The sophomore album kicks ass with Whole Lotta Love as the opener and gets better) 4. Houses of the Holy (Started their creative side) 5. I (Killer debut of all time) 6. III (Really like how this album changes from rock to folk) 7. Presence (This album is pretty good and mellow) 8. In Through the Out Door (pretty mellow) 9. Coda (haven’t heard this in a while, but does not rank high for me and I’m not sure the last time I heard this. I can guarantee it’s been 20+ years🤨)

My ranking would be kinda similar to yours, with one exception: Houses of the Holy way higher. I just have a very emotional connection to this album and especially with the songs played live on "The Song Remains The Same (concert movie '73 live @ MSG)" - btw best live album EVER recorded in my opinion. When I watched the movie for the first time with a former friend of mine I had like a mind-expanding experience, even though I was sober. We listened over his Dolby-Surround-Sound-System and watched on a big canvas screen.

P.S I enjoy every Zeppelin album, even ‘In Through the Out Door’. So no need to get bogged down with whats at 2 compared to whats at 6. I ranked Led Zeppelin I so low only because it has a lot of covers and rip offs on it. Regardless, this is ranking degrees of greatness.

9) In Through the Out Door - In the Evening is a great intro to a record. Rest of the album doesn't live up to the start. Still like it, definitely last though. The band seems lost on the songwriting on this album. 8) Coda - Great songs that everyone needed to hear after Bonzo passed. We're Gonna Groove, Poor Tom, and Bonzo's Montreux are my top tracks on it. 7) Presence - Such weird guitar sounds on this one. Production drop-off on sound quality, seems rushed and/or lazy. I like the dirty atmosphere that ends up giving it, just not right for Zeppelin and monster tracks like Achilles Last Stand. 6) I - Such raw emotion. Love the vocals on this one, out of control! But with mostly cover tunes, I have to rank it low due to originality and liking their own songs they would write more. 5) IV - I've probably just heard Black Dog, Rock n' Roll, and Stairway a bit too much but incredible album with the best sounding production of any Zeppelin or any classic rock album for that matter I think. Page was a wizard in the studio with this one and it sounds like the most time was spent on the sounds. Incredibly guitar layering. 4) III - Since I've Been Loving You - Best blues track, maybe of any artist ever. Love the atmosphere and vibe of the album with the acoustics. Tangerine and That's the Way are faves along with Immigrant Song of course. 3) II - Definitive album of the 1960s in my opinion! 2) Physical Graffiti - Cheats to climb this high with the 2nd disc. Bron-Yr-Aur - Best acoustic instrumental track. 10 Years Gone, wow. Wanton Song is metal! Kashmir and Sick Again are favorites. 1) Houses of the Holy - Super fun and love the prog elements. Zep at their peak dominance. No Quarter - favorite Zeppelin song. The Song Remains the Same is also my favorite live concert of all-time so that album is pretty important to me. That and How the West was Won are essential live recording to check out!

I can't include Coda since it's a compilation. The eight proper studio albums rate from good to stellar. 8. In Through the Out Door - A few memorable tracks and a few misses. 7. Presence - "Achilles Last Stand" and "Nobody's Fault but Mine" are excellent. 6. Led Zeppelin IV - Unquestionably a classic. Perhaps too much radio play has killed it for me but it doesn't grab me like some of the others. 5. Led Zeppelin I - I like the dark vibe but it's just a little one dimensional. 4. Led Zeppelin II - Starts out super heavy. Tapers off a bit at the end but it's an engaging listen. 3. Led Zeppelin III - Excellent production and diversity in the songs makes this one memorable. 2. Houses of the Holy - Builds upon III and IV by offering even more variety. 1. Physical Graffiti - A stunning achievement. Some say it's too long, but I think it is properly epic in scope.

I've only heard 6 6. Led Zeppelin I - Dazed and Confused, Babe, How Many More Times are some of the best songs in their discography but almost every song here is plagiarized (without crediting original) and it hits different after knowing 5. Houses of The Holy - The Rain Song and No Quarter is just perfect! TSRTS is energising and the live version is levels better (Rain Song too). The Ocean has a cool riff, Over the Hills great acoustic song 4. Led Zeppelin III - I LOVE ACOUSTIC! That's the Way, Tangerine, Gallows Pole (best song lyrics wise) are so freaking good, Since I've Been Loving You nice slow ballad, again live version is better, Immigrant Song is iconic and powerful 3. Led Zeppelin II. By far the most consistent out of them, has some of the best hard rock songs and riffs ever. The transition in Bring it on Home is sublime, Whole Lotta Love is just...Whole Lotta Love. Slower ones like What is and Thank You are great too. Gotta give this album every inch of my love 2. Led Zeppelin IV - Black Dog and Rock n Roll are such fantastic openers, Going to California best LZ acoustic song l, When the Levee Breaks is just nuts, the way the guitar and harmonica line up together and omfg Stairway to freaking Heaven is on here, I need not elaborate. 1. Physical Graffiti. This album literally has everything, hard rock, psychedelic, folk, slower and chill ones. "Chew on a piece of your custard pie~" that line makes my trousers warm, HoTH, Trampled and The Rover have cool riffs but are a bit too stretched. Kashmir (check out 1979 live) and In My Time of Dying are Bonzo's masterpieces. My favourite track has to be Ten Years Gone, the story behind it makes it even beautiful than it already is, Boogie with Stu and Down by The Seaside is the most underrated LZ songs in their discography imo.

Led Zeppelin III As for the other albums, I really haven't listened to them enough to form an opinion of them yet. I really need to get on that. It pains me to put Houses of the Holy at number 4 because The Rain Song is my favourite Led Zeppelin song but hey, I have to put it somewhere right? And I also love No Quarter, Dyer Maker etc. And Led Zeppelin IIi is kinda inbetween, I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE the Immigrant Song, so f**kin good, however the album as a whole was a little weak I felt.

Led Zeppelin was like King Crimson: reinventing itself all the time. New albums seldom brought what the audience expected. It was always going to be long to digest. Ranking is pointless. All are worth the listening time. They were "hard rock" when I got into them but that qualifier didn't hold past the first two albums.

I mean since you say your a newbie to them and the genre itself and it says metal channel so I'll let it pass but classic rock is not a genre it more like an era meaning the 60s and 70s hence crimson or many prog Rock of that era would be defined as classic rock. Zep cannot be cornered into one word so they are defined as Hard Rock but they have dabbled into many genres from blues to folk to country to funk to raggae to eastern music etc hence the legacy.

I haven't heard all of them yet so I'm not going to rank them. I have heard Physical Graffiti, 1, 2, 4 and Houses Of The Holy. All I can say is that I don't like 2 at all. I know I'm going to get crucified but I don't care. 2 basically feels like a live album in studio form to me. Way too much jams and separate solos spread out across the album. Moby Dick can get in the bin and so can The Lemon Song. There are some good songs on it of course but most times I listen to the album I turn it off because I can't stand all the jams. All the other albums I've listened to are great though.
