Definitely. Have to agree with Pitchfork’s review on this one: “It's also, to my ears, their best album, even if it's not as unified or complete as some of what had come before. Why their best? First of all, there's more of it. The previous two albums were awesome, but each had just eight songs; Physical Graffiti has 15. It's math-when you are talking about songs from this period of the band, that makes it roughly twice as good.”

Feel the same way about IV, really refreshing to see LZIII get the props it deserves -- I think they really branched out on this one, and it kinda went over their audience's heads, and as a result they made a super straightforward but also less adventurous IV. Addendum: having now watching this entire video, I gotta add that maybe you could've discussed the eastern strings on Friends, the pastoral vibe of Side B, how exposure to Laurel Canyon singer-songwriters influenced this direction etc. That aside, great channel!

Led Zeppelin II is by far their greatest. Whole Lotta Love is the greatest guitar riff of all time. Every track is absolutely killer (including The Lemon Song, I don't care what you say!) Bring It On Home is one of the most underrated closing tracks.

Gotta disagree with you, Carouselambra is epic tune, love it, especially that disco breakdown at the end, we got totally different taste; HOH is their best, the crunge is an homage to James Brown; and I know this will draw some ire, but In My Time of Dying, to me, overblown and falls flat, No Quarter is my favorite all time Zeppelin tune, it’s all there; power, mystery, and the hammer of the gods...

I enjoyed your observations on the Led Zeppelin albums. My take is on a similar track with some differences. Here are my comments: LZ II - This is my favorite and I think it is one of the all-time great rock LP’s. Whole Lotta Love blew me away when that song came out. I bought the single at the time and surprisingly, it was the album version of the song. Unusual for a single which were almost always the radio version. I love The Lemon Song. It is a great hard rock twist on the blues. The call and response of Plant’s voice and Page’s guitar is a highlight. My favorite White Stripes song is Ball and a Biscuit, which to me is kind of their take on The Lemon Song. For me, the throw away song on that album is Moby Dick. I find most drum solos boring. Drum solos were a staple of 70’s concerts and that is usually when I would take a bathroom break. LZ III - I love this album. Along with LZ II, it is still the one I play the most. Many fans did not like it or get it when it came out. I thought it was a fine departure from their early stuff and showed a different side to what they could do. I equate it to Pearl Jam’s album No Code. Big disappointment for a lot of PJ fans, but for me, it was their LZ III. Wondering if you liked Since I’ve Been Loving You on LZ III since you don’t care much for blues numbers on the first two albums? LZ (I) - Good album. I love the blues songs and the first three songs on side two, which are sort of a suite, are awesome. I can live without Babe I’m Gonna Leave You. Too repetitive. Untitled (IV or Zoso as we called it back in the day) - This was considered by most, myself included, to be a very fine album when it came out. But to your point, the over exposure of this album just killed it for me. I haven’t listened to it in decades. I can still enjoy an individual song from the album that might pop up on a stream or radio as long as it is not Stairway. Houses of The Holy - As you mentioned, decent album with some fine songs. I was always entranced by The Rain Song. I will occasionally go back to listen to this one. Physical Graffiti and beyond - Even though the only time I saw LZ live was on this tour, my interest in the band had begun to wane with this release and I have rarely listened to this album or any of the others that followed after.

Saying “I believe (Physical Graffiti) is their only double studio album” and “I’ve never heard anything (from Presence) on the radio” compromises the integrity of this list. Also suggesting that “You Shook me,” “I Can’t Quit You Baby,” and “the Lemon Song” detract from the greatness of the first 2 albums tells me you don’t get it. These songs are essential to their greatness. I love the first 2 albums, but to rank them higher than Physical Graffiti, Houses of the Holy and 4, is to suggest they went thru a steady decline as they branched out by exploring different styles. That, again, shows a lack of intimacy with the band. Though I do agree 3 is one of their finest moments, overall a list made by a novice, in my most humble opinion.

Both are either my favorite or one of my favorites. I can’t connect well to Led Zeppelin III. I don’t get what’s so good about it. I mean yeah, Immigrant Song is freaking great but everything else, I can’t enjoy like all of Led Zeppelin IV’s or Physical Graffiti’s songs (My two favorite albums from LZ). For Pink Floyd, it’s Animals. I can’t sit there and enjoy Animals and it bugs the hell out of me. Everyone raves about that album like it’s the second coming of Christ. I can listen to Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall on repeat, but not Animals.
