Robert Plants vocals are insane when you consider he was only 19 or 20 yeas old in this performance.
@chassetterfield9559 Жыл бұрын
Sadly he overdid it too soon, possibly with some bad technique thrown in. Consequently, he damaged his vocal cords. he had to have surgery later, & effectively lost some of his upper register.

Now TECHNICALLY, Hector, you COULD see them again in this "era" and still be in the 70's next week for a performance from Zep's Royal Albert Hall 1970 gig. Much to choose from. I absolutely love these really early live Zep videos. They were always improvisational in their live performances, but in these early days the improv borders on experimental. They are still getting to know each other and are still playing with their sound. It is straight-up raw talent at its best. They are just oozing unrefined musical genius all over the stage and onto the front row! Like others have mentioned, you should check out the MSG version (28 mins) during 70s week to see where this song ends up after five years of refinement. Mind-blowing!

"That dude" is the great Jimmy Page. No worries about the 70s. Most of this band's music was produced during that decade. They were together from 1968 until the unexpected death of the drummer, John Bonham, in 1980. Greatest rock band in history. Edit: This performance was done just a couple of months after Led Zeppelin formed as a band, so it's a very early live version. They refined it over the years performing the song over 400 times, never the same way twice, and sometimes for up to 30 minutes. It would be cool to compare this very early performance to later ones.

In 1968, "Dazed and Confused" was primarily performed live by Led Zeppelin and was not officially released on any album. The song would later appear on their 1969 self-titled debut album, which was released in January 1969 in the United States and March 1969 in the United Kingdom. Therefore, it was not available for purchase in stores in 1968 but was instead experienced primarily through their live performances.
@mcasualjacques10 ай бұрын
A film of a Led Zeppelin performance did not appear on television until later years. In 1968, Led Zeppelin was still a relatively new band and had not yet gained widespread television exposure. Their breakthrough performances on television occurred later, in the early 1970s, with appearances on shows like "The Old Grey Whistle Test" in the UK and "The Midnight Special" in the US. These appearances typically aired during late-night programming slots, catering to a more mature audience. It's unlikely that Led Zeppelin performances would have been shown on daytime television in 1968 due to their relatively edgy and unconventional style for the time.

There's a double DVD of concert performances, from Royal Albert Hall, Madison Square Gardens, Earls Court & Knebworth. Most of these have made their way onto KZbin, so are the " normal " ones that we see. Remember, in the 'old days' there were no huge screens backing or flanking the stage, so no need for loads of cameramen to be crawling all over the stage. They were only there if 'they' wanted to make a video recording of the concert. 'Personal filming' gear was bulky & heavy, and certainly wouldn't be allowed past security at the gate. So different to today's iPhone generation. I first remember seeing 'big screens' at Knebworth, my local festival in the mid -late 70s, probably at the Stones gig.@@brainsqueezereactions
