This is definitely the most under rated album. It just rock's

This one is the cut.....the deepest, nastiest of deep Led Zeppelin cuts that no one talks about and no one cares about but it's about as hard and dirty and loose as it gets for Zep. I love it.

That for me was the most unexpected highlight of the show. Presence is still ( as are all) a favorite, that still gets it turn on the platter (turntable) in my home. Checkout Roberts’ first two solo albums. Killers as well.

This song is Robert's growing sarcastic cynicism with the LA cocaine/drug scene. He said it was a dig at someone he knew and cared about and how they were getting deeper and deeper into drugs (no, not Jimmy, those references come later). It's in the lyrics; "And she said, 'Don't you want it, don't you want cocaine, cocaine, cocaine?'" and later in the song when he sings "On the balance of a crystal, paying through your nose." you can hear a loud snorting sound. This is a very intense album where the cracks of dissatisfaction and disillusionment are really showing through.

In what songs does he start referencing Jimmy’s drug use?
@tektoniks_architects
@tektoniks_architects 2 жыл бұрын
I believe that Robert started trolling Jimmy in Physical Graffiti. Sick Again was a slam on the young groupie lifestyle Jimmy was deep into (Lori Maddox, Miss Pamela, etc), and there are at least 2 drug addiction-related songs on this album....obviously Jimmy was deep into his drug additions post-1975. In Through The Out Door is where Robert drops the veil and calls out Jimmy literally after Robert's son's death (Carouselambra: "Where was your helping? Where was your bow?"), but I think he was using thinly-veiled references for several years by then.
@henriettaskolnick4445
@henriettaskolnick4445 2 жыл бұрын
@@tektoniks_architects Actually, Miss Pamela is the same age as Robert, being only about a month younger and Robert loved all the GTOs, however, Lori and the others were another issue. I just figured I'd comment on them in their places and not get ahead of myself.

THE most overlooked Zep album. In 1976 this album was overshadowed by the likes of Aerosmith Rocks, Boston, Frampton Comes Alive, to name a few. That said, a powerhouse of top notch talent at their mature prime.

Pl Plant was a big fan or female blues vocalists and that’s we learn to sing and Paige huge fan of blues guitar players Like Otis Rd., Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson, Albert King BB King etc. patient also loved Celtic music in English folk music John Paul Jones loved Funk and blues dish and you could tell he listen to a hell of a James Brown in Bonham is just a crazy genius rock drummer who plays fairly straightforward for four beats but the way he uses his foot on the bass drum and the power on precision that he has is unlike anybody else. Every player in the span is equally responsible for the ultimate sound and not one of them Could be eliminated as they’ve are each critical

It is in G minor pentatonic. Underrated album and a favorite of hard-core fans. This is a very heavy guitar record. This is probably the last album before they all got really into dark places with substances especially Jimmy page with his heroin addiction and John Bonham with his alcoholism. Achilles last stand has a lot of references to plants trip to Greece where he crashed his car and almost killed himself but fucked himself up pretty good. Sort of like Achilles last stand in Epic Poem by zHomer In the 2 part series about the war between Sparta and Troy the Iliad and the Odyssey it’s a reference to ancient Greek mythology a lot of plants songs are all references to Tolkien’s books author of the Lord of the rings trilogy. For your life is about Cocaine addiction. One part is The drug talking to you ‘do it if you want to” the other is then his conscience is talking to him “next stop’s is underground “ ( if you don’t stop you might end up a casualty. There is reference to free basing when he mentioned smoking it. References to promiscuous sex which goes hand in hand with the on tour groupie free love, drug fueled orgies that were a i look part of L.Z reality

I've said it before, I didn't appreciate this album when I first heard it. I bought it anyway because no Zep collection is complete without it. Having grown a little since, it now makes me sad to know this is (in my opinion) their apogee. I would've really liked to see where they could've gone had Bonham survived. Disclaimer: I am in no way disparaging the next album. The reason I fell in love with Zep is Fool In The Rain. I hope I'm wrong, but I dont think I will ever hear anything like them again in my lifetime.
