The "brown eyed man" line might be a nod to Chuck Berry's "Brown Eyed Handsome Man," a song about brown eyed lady killers throughout history. Speaking of that, maybe consider checking out the music of the late great Chuck Berry, whose pioneering guitar playing pretty much influenced everybody who came after him. He's called "the father of rock-n-roll" for good reason. There's more to his music than "Johnny B. Goode" or "You Never Can Tell" (the song Uma Thurman and John Travolta danced to in Pulp Fiction). Give a listen to "Maybellene," "Roll Over Beethoven," "School Days," "Rock and Roll Music," "Sweet Little Sixteen," "Around and Around," "Carol," "Little Queenie," "Back in the U.S.A.," "Memphis, Tennessee," "Promised Land," and a cover of song written back in 1914, one of the first blues songs to cross over into pop, which I've taking a big liking to lately, "St. Louis Blues" kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGPPf4Owp7Wif8k

I think I remember Jimmy Page talking about the reference to Chuck Berry's song in an interview, can't remember the interviewer though. Plus the fact that about 80% of the population has brown eyes might have something to do with it. So it's more likely than not to have been someone with brown eyes. Just say'n.

The film included "Black Dog", but not "Celebration Day". The film also included "Since I've Been Loving You", the introduction to "Heartbreaker", the instrumental "Bron-Yr-Aur" (which appeared on Physical Graffiti) and a hurdy-gurdy piece called "Autumn Lake", none of which were featured on the album. Sorry, I'm a Stickler for details LOL!

I'm not sure if that's how she took it, or if she was just confused what was sung there. "Brown-eyed" isn't racial, anyway. Without looking into what the lyric was meant to convey, my intuition tells me it was just a random detail thrown in to make the line more memorable. Everyone hearing it will probably react the same way: "Why does it have to be a brown-eyed man??" That's what makes it stick in your mind: it gets the attention of your curiosity.
