Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

I am 65 and Zeppelin was IT. Lots of harsh in those days. Saw them in 1975 Montreal. This is Zeppelin best overall record. All members of Zeppelin were equals on this record. The music captures the mythical and the sacred. There is no profanity. Give a thumbs up if you get it thank you

I got almost the whole Zeppelin chronology as hand me down albums. I played them on a piece of shit record player handed down from my mother, because they didn't want me to blast them too loud on something better. This was from the late 70's into the 80's. Intermixed in the albums were Gordon Lightfoot, Chicago, and Fleetwood Mac, among others. The only band that influenced me as much as Zeppelin was Deep Purple, and the Beatles. I am 57 years old, and downloading everything I can from KZbin. Rock on, brother.

Both A.R.M.S. shows at Madison Square Garden (Beck , Clapton , Page) , Jimmy Page with The Black Crowes at Roseland . It was rainy that evening and realized I could not get into that event . I did , however , see John Cleese being interviewed on the red carpet . So , I trounced around a few blocks away and discovered the goings on at Roseland . Aside from securing an inexpensive ticket , which I did , there was only one problem . I was traveling around with my favorite pet Rat , Clive . He was very well behaved and I put him on my head , underneath a hood and asked him to be still , in order to be undetected while being searched on the way in . I miss that Rat !! I know I still am very much so. Let history repeat itself through the generations. It still plays on classic rock radio 50yrs later. But we get to say we were there and some of us have it on vinyl. I know I have my original vinyl album and my precious memories attached to this album. I wouldn't change a thing. The timing was perfect. So stop saying they were before their time. Only thing I'd slide around is the timing on the quality of recording equipment. Not to say digital won anything all the way out... the sweet spot for me was within the 80s, particularly the later years and into the 90s. The entire front end was the best analog equipment money could get... Even this cleaned up really nice considering the "loose" overall nature of the sound (a big part of the appeal in Zeppelin's sound if you ask me), so maybe I'm torn there too and just have to agree that it's perfect as it stands 🤷‍♂️🤣 Either way this is one of their best, arguably THE best.

Bass player-on an original composition of mine- I remember hearing Over the Hills & Far Away on the AM radio about '74, & that was it, I knew I wanted to play guitar like that- & it only took about 20 years to really perfect all the nuances of the acoustic intro! I was 13 when this dropped. But, amazingly, it's impact was diluted by the HUNDREDS of other great albums released in those golden years of music 1967-1978. Every great band were cranking them out....Zeppelin just blended in...We of course loved it but; Yes, Crimso, Zappa, ELP, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Sabbath, to name but a few, had amazing contributions....And ALL those bands mentioned were just as great as Zeppelin...LOL...I just googled 1973...Unreal...Dark side of the Moon, quadrophenia, sabbath bloody sabbath, Tull - A Passion Play! Tales of topographic oceans, It's staggering to see it in black and white; www.google.com/search?q=albums+1973&newwindow=1&sxsrf=APwXEddZrLoF19qHAHLsUHVWS2FqTL54HA%3A1680605209151&ei=GQAsZIvxCNyhptQP3tGbiAE&oq=+albums+1973&gs_lcp=Cgxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAQARgAMgoIABCKBRBDEJECMgYIABAHEB4yBggAEAcQHjIFCAAQgAQyBggAEAcQHjIGCAAQBxAeMgYIABAHEB4yBggAEAcQHjIGCAAQBxAeMgYIABAHEB46CggAEEcQ1gQQsAM6CAgAEAUQBxAeOggIABCKBRCGAzoICAAQCBAHEB46CggAEAgQBxAeEA9KBAhBGABQuQdYmA1gkhxoAXABeACAAXWIAaMDkgEDMS4zmAEAoAEByAEIwAEB&sclient=gws-wiz-serp

This to be honest is their best album. It's also the first of Zeppelins catalog to be filled with all original works(none of the songs here are covers). Also it's so good cause of how creative it was, and how well each song just blends together. How it goes from there fiery start in Tye Song Remain The Same to the soft spoken poetic song in the Rain Song And how the flows perfectly with the beginning of Over the hills and far away(My favorite song on the album). Then they throw away what the first three songs did and begin with Bonhams drum, and although being out of time it still has a groove, just be careful for the off beat snare drum. And the it gives you time to think about what happened and then you start up side two. It automaticallies begin with Dancing days. You didn't ask for it but it's something you needed. Bonham drums are magnificent on this whole side of the album. And the it takes you in to tye reggae take from led zeppelin also known as Dyer Maker per nounced(Der maica). And how it goes into probably led zeppelins most mysterious song. No Quarter, which was just special and how it just comes on in tye album. And then the closer the Ocean. What a good way to remind tye listener that they are a big part of Zeppelin. Thank you.

@doznoff362 It's fair to say this is their most poppy, radio-friendly album. So staunch Zep heads might turn their nose up at it just a tad. Compare it to the testosterone-fueled Graffiti that followed. I love it though. I like that the albums all have slightly different vibes. I and II really could have been a double album as they are thematically similar and came out the same year. III is an obvious acoustic/folksy departure. IV is argaubly peak Zep. In the vein of I and II. Then this is more poppy. PG unzipped its pants and pulled its balls out. Not for women. But also kind of consistent, unlike earlier albums that had different genres. Presence... I don't care for that one too much. The IttOD was more synthy and modern I suppose. But you can figure out what you-re in the mood for and put an album on.
