Not seeing the mandatory Led Zeppelin Stairway to Heaven live at Madison Square Garden. That was the very highest level of "Rock Star" ever achieved.

Zeppelin is badass!!! So is Kashmir!!! It’s been my favorite song since it was released in 1975…Kashmir has been sampled by several musicians including Puff Daddy. It’s mentioned in Fast Times at Ridgemont High as the ultimate hook up song. The venue is pronounced Neb-worth….Jimmy was 35, JPJ was 33, Bonzo was 31 & Robert was 30. ( he would be turning 31 in a couple weeks).

To answer your question about "I am a traveler of time and space." I have traveled to many countries in the world and when you travel to most countries, you are traveling to countries who, not only are you going someplace with a whole different culture, you are traveling back in time. Outside of the western world, most cultures are still in their ancient cultures; some more than others. Robert Plant spent time in India and Kashmir uses Middle Eastern and Indian tones and instrumental riffs (I don't know the proper musical term). Those countries cultures from ancient times were still almost 100% intact in 1979; but are moving through development recently. Also, the band members have something very mystical about their art and psyche which is beyond time and space. I don't know if I explained it in the best terms, but as a world traveler myself, I understand what they have seen and experienced in their travels because I have seen it and experienced it as well, and they explain it in this song as well as a few others.

The "K" in Knebworth is silent, like it is in "doorknob", so pronounced like "Neb-worth", and it's a town located in England. This was a fabulous concert. They performed so many of their great songs. Sadly, just shy of a year before John Bonham unexpectedly died, which is why Led Zeppelin disbanded. Nice reaction, thanks. Looking forward to more Zeppelin reactions! ;)

Another really great song with the instruments is Achilles Last Stand, Bonham is banging the drums the whole time. Moby Dick live the long version, is Bonham’s 15 to 20 minute solo, & will knock your socks off. He played his solo over 200 times, at some point in their 3 to 4 hours straight concerts, my opinion greatest drummer ever.
@DianeLake-sw3ym
@DianeLake-sw3ym Жыл бұрын
The musicians in Led Zeppelin were GOATs. They were the best. Best guitarist, best bassist and best vocals. Bonham is seen as the best drummer who really brought drums into the forefront. Before him drums were in the background keeping time. Tommy Lee is good but, not considered one of the elite drummers Top drummers. Robert Plant is seen as the best vocalist with a range of just under 4. Freddie Mercury is a 4. This is probably why they are seen as first and second best of all time switching back and forth all the time. The clothes are what the fashion was becoming in 79 as things head into the 80s. The 80s was decade that high end fashion and looking good was the thing. Even to excess. Punk fashion was also big in the 80s. This song was about Robert Plant's visit to places like Morocco, ect on vacation. It left a huge impression on him. You cannot take everything written in Zeppelin's songs - actually alot of songs by different artists so literal. Alot is imagery or done with setting a mood. \\\\\\\ \7

I think how they are dressed here, might be more for where they are playing, maybe somewhat of a dress code. In an interview, Plant said their equipment was all set up for a concert somewhere, they weren’t let in, because they didn’t have ties on.

The pantheon of rock drummers would start with Keith Moon (of The Who), Bonzo from Zep, Neil Peart (Rush), and Vinnie Colaiuta (Zappa, Jeff Beck) at the head of the pack. btw it was NOT Zep the destroyer of hotels, that was The Who... Zep were too busy mowing down the female groupies. Peace, love and bellbottoms from Canada.

It's funny . . . to me, "old school hip-hop" is still relatively contemporary but, then, I'm 68 years old and "old school" basically ended 40-50 years ago, for me. It's cool to witness the younger generations discovering REAL rock. Not to be confused with "rock-n-roll". Two different things.

They had spent most of the 70s dressing in fancy rock and roll clothes. I think they were just burnt out of doing that at this point. If you look at pics from 1980 shows, Page was wearing plain sleeveless muscle shirts, and Plant just simple t-shirts and jeans.

This song was created with Jimmy Pages hypnotic riff and John Bonham joined Page with the riff! Page and Bonham are top credit with this song! And Robert plant came up with the lyrics later when the band was driving through the Moroccan desert through Kashmir! John Bonham is the God of Thunder! After John Bonham came on the scene every drummer was inspired buy him! Especially heavy metal drummers! Tommy Lee? Lol he's okay but not even close to John Bonhams drumming! For me the other great drummer was Neil Peart from Rush! Different style of drumming but he was also great!

Believe me bro, Led Zep, destroyed more hotel rooms than any other bands, they puted a car into a pool, once, at L.A, Bonham puted a tv trough a window, etc, etc....they were travelling with their own Boeing, fucking 1000 of women, drugs, etc....That was at the end, near the 80's, that's why they're wearing strange clothes, you should watch the 1973 live at Madison Square Garden, to understand the gods of rock they were, and are! In USA, when they were coming to make a tour, the newspapers, were calling that the Led Zep circus!😅You said, they seem to play easy, but, there just came back after 2 years, without playing, at that moment! And, there was 400,000 peoples in the audience to see them! You're right, i'm french, but i remember, animal in the Muppet show, it's Bonham here😅😅😅😅He's definitively the best drummer ever! And, the 4 guys, were the bests! The best drummer, the best bass/keyboard player the best singer, the best guitarist! That was Led Zep! Watch them live at the Madison Square Garden, you're not going to be disappointed! Peace from France ✌️

This is an older Led Zeppelin at max effort no strutting around. They were locked in and trying to play their best. They played some of their best live performances this night. The next week they sounded like trash

It’s not the song Live and Let Die by Wings which was in the James Bond Movie. what makes you think that is the sound of the synthesizer used at this concert. It’s has that cheesy sounding 70’s early 80’s synth sound. Earlier concert he used an instrument called the Mellotron. The cloths is because it was 1979 it was the style the hippy cloths were out of style and they were in their 30’s they felt corny with open chested blouses and bell bottoms Jimmy page and John Bohnam were severe heroin addicts in this concert and Bohnam would die a year later Robert Plant and JPJ WERE the only sober ones at this point
