Great reaction/review! Gumbo Supreme, Indeed I am convinced, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that no rock group will ever replace Led Zeppelin as the greatest Rock Band in the history of the genre. Most don't even come close. These 4 British musicians were, in their prime, ROCK GODS, and they deserve the respect and admiration of all serious listeners of music .... PERIOD .....

I loved that look on Plant's face near the end, just after the band kicked in after the "Oh my Jesus" refrain. It was a look that simply said, "how fucking good are we". And they were.

We went to a lot of concerts back then and Zep was by far the loudest. The last time they came to town they played for 3 1/2 hours and my ears rang for a week. But we sat 20 feet away at eye level from the greatest band ever. It happened to be Bonzo's birthday so RP had 15k of us sing Happy Birthday.

Zep took an old Blues tune, "Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed" by Blind Willie Johnson in 1927 and they decibelised it into Blues Rock perfection. They based many of their songs on great Black bluesmen- Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson- even Sam Cooke. And Blues Rock sprouted Progressive and Hard Rock. Maybe even Psychedelic Rock (see "Dazed and Confused" LIVE if poss.). But the undersung hero of "Dying" is Jonesy... he alone gives the propulsion necessary for the other three to add their filigrees of magic. Greetings from Canada, Rio- peace and be safe.

When you get a chance let me know what "LIVE" performance of Dazed & Confused should I react to? ps- I grew up in Detroit and started going to Windsor at 19 because we could DRINK! And I've been to TO about 20 times. ✌🏾
@27thangel232 жыл бұрын
@@oldschoolhip-hopheadriorea9178 Yeah, well I made up the decibelised- sorry about that... but it means increasing the decibels (the units of measure of loudness). i.e. they rockified the Blues. Good on you for looking them up- big fan of dictionaries here.
@27thangel232 жыл бұрын
@@oldschoolhip-hopheadriorea9178 I was Canadian Army and could drink legally at 17... I know the impetus! The thing about D&C is that either Jimmy (usually) or Robert would change on each performance- each show is individual and wonderful. You'll get in the least trouble if you do the MSG, NYC, 1973 show in the movie The Song Remains the Same... it's about 28 minutes though. PS I'm Southern Ontario, Been to Flint, Michigan about 20 times... and I got love for Detroit: Was (not Was), Berry Gordy, Bob Seger, Mitch Ryder, Martha and the Vandellas...

@@oldschoolhip-hopheadriorea9178 Frets allow you to hit the pitch of every note perfectly without worrying about going sharp or flat. They’re like markers to help determine notes. Jimmy was using a slide on his guitar and JPJ was essentially sliding on his bass as well.

I’ve watched your reactions each several times, yes they really are that great, & the best equipment too. Bonham would adjust his drums to get the exact sound he wanted, he also used just his wrists more then his whole arms. His son said his dad held the sticks down further, which maybe gave him better control, & that deeper beat. I’ve loved them for about 50 years, I love all you newer young people, finding & loving them too.

John paul jones is playing the bass, keys, mandolin, guitar, it's a genius, made a lot of arregements of Led Zep, he was so quiet, in the shadow, but he was the glue, of LED ZEP! The 3 others were so huge monsters, improvising all the time, without him, it won't have worked! As other guys said, you should watch the Madison Square Garden concert in 1973,the movie called THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME! All the songs are crazy masterpieces! The sound production is perfect, the versions are perfect, and you can feel the telepathic link between them, always improvising to make the songs evolve every noghts, it's madness!
