I love your reactions to Led Zeppelin. It took me back to when I first heard Stairway to heaven..I was 13 or 14 & going through my brother's records. I was blown away & I can guarantee that they are in my playlist. Music speaks to the soul & Led Zeppelin helped me through Breast Cancer. It was a terrible time in my life but I would listen to them during my treatments & it would help pull me through. They are easily one of my favorite bands.. Go on the Zep-a-thon & listen to their catalog in order. It's amazing.

When I saw him in Earls Court in England in 1973 he did it on the triple neck with six strings on the bottom 12 in the middle and 24 on the top. Go figure. This band will go down as a Michael Jackson Mozart Liberace Homer Achilles Sir Isaac Newton and Einstein they will have their place in the history books. Me personally let me say that I lived in the time of Led Zeppelin

Hey Scribe, so cool to see others getting turned on to Zeppelin for the first time. This song is a particular favorite of mine; as you note the guitar solo is simply staggering! If you hear this song on subsequent tours; there seemed to be something missing and never quite matched this peak performance of Jimmy Page here. The 73 tour was Zeppelin at their performing peak and so evident in this song. There's a crescendo building in this song; which peaks during the solo - it's so soulful and full of passion; you can hear it in the notes of the solo. Watch Page during the solo; he's intense, passionate, focused, driven and perhaps taken over by some other power here - truly one of the greatest moments in Rock history!!!

That's not entirely true. When Led Zeppelin first started, he did. After they became extremely famous, he started improvising a lot more. If you've ever watched the older clips from the late 60's, he was pretty much studio. That was true about them all the way up to around '72. People liked it when he started improvising more because that meant extended songs and unexpected twists that didn't exist on the Albums. Have you listened to him on the "how the west was won" box set. He and plant are close to studio on them.

Ha! I saw it at the theater when new, too! I came from a really small town and our one-screen theater added a midnight show because so many kids coming in from surrounding small towns were being turned away. I was doing acid and on the walk from my car down an alley to the theater my girlfriend stepped in a big pile of dogshit and I couldn't stop laughing. She got so mad she wouldn't even sit with me for the first half of the show.

Choosing Led Zeppelin's best song is as difficult as choosing The Beatles best song. They are ALL great but everyone is entitled to their own opinion of which it is. There is no wrong answer. great reaction ... I was there... Madison square garden... July 1973 ...the song remains the same concert... i think i was the youngest in the audience..lol.... best $5 i ever spent....it was "far out"... wish you could have been there many have focus oh Page's riff but if you notice... Bonham's beat was in tuned with him setting the tone and pace up and down like a roller coaster now this is how to make musical art with poetry and music ... raw talent ...without digital aid , profanities and referring to "hoes" and "bitches"... watch and learn kids be safe out there..... as we would say back in the day... peace

Not only the speed and pinpoint accuracy but also you have to take into consideration that is a 10 to 12 pound guitar because it is a double-neck. People may argue who is the best guitar player. But when you put and all the factors from writing to composing 2 Arrangements speed accuracy no one can't come close to Jimmy Page.
