Here is an ironic and eerie coincidence. Page's old band,The Yardbirds, played their last gig on Sunday night July 7,1968. In 1980,Led Zeppelin did a short tour of Germany.Their last show, although they had no way of knowing it at the time was July 7,1980. “We’re all replaceable” - a term we’re constantly reminded of by our bosses and in most walks of life. In the case of Led Zeppelin, there really was no replacing Bonzo. First, out of sheer respect. Second, he basically made whatever they came up with, tick. His sound and style was as recognizable as a Stratocaster slung of the shoulder of Jimi Hendrix. He was the lifeblood of Zeppelin - so much so that there is simply no replacement for the departed drum giant.

But later on they had families, and it's hard to be away from them for months. And of course Robert's son died. Bonham started drinking more and was getting more insecure about his playing. Very sad, he was unbelievable throughout his career. I love how Robert is so down to earth and looks back at Led Zeppelin with all it's ups and downs. I feel like Jimmy Page never moved on from LZ with all the remastered albums etc. I know LZ was his baby as guitarist and producer, but you mostly hear him talk about great they were.

James Brown, Elvis Presley. Dean Martin, Nina Simone, and acts like that. get into it, it's not hard those are great artists. Listen to Chicago Blues, Texas Blues hell listen to conjunto and ska. Now come back to Zep and listen to them for a few weeks. You'll be blown away. I'll tell you Blues is Blood, and Stevie Ray and John Lee Hooker etc are were it's at but Zep always delivers and you can hear so many influences and reinterpretations brought to a higher level because of the members' proficiency and feel for their music. I feel they are simply the best rock band to ever play.
