Just try to imagine . That people didn’t listen to one track at will, then listen to someone else. We listened to each side of the album’s straight through. Then flip it over and listen to the second side. The artists tried to make songs flow into the next track. I would enjoy watching you experience the flow of album. That’s where the trueness of our visions were formed.

Polo...it WAS fun to see them do this live. At the end of the song, Robert would loudly call out "STRIDER!", as if calling him home. As others have said, it's a love song to his dog, a blue-eyed Merle Australian Shepherd. There are pics of Robert & Strider, just Google 'em & they'll pop up. This song is special for those of us who not only love Zeppelin but have and/or have had much beloved dogs in their lives. It always brings tears to my eyes, especially at the end when, in my mind, I can still hear Robert calling Strider home. 🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵

Bron Yr Aur is pronounced like "brawn-er-ire". It's a Welsh word meaning "golden hills". It's also the name of a cottage in Wales that Robert took Jimmy to, on vacation. It had no electricity or running water, so Jimmy had to bring acoustic guitars with him and a battery powered tape recorder to catch any inspiration. The majority of their third album was written there and so gives that album, especially, more of an acoustic sound. Some songs from that time wouldn't get used until later albums. Zeppelin's albums always had acoustic guitars in there somewhere and they often played with other musical genres and textures.

@lynnebell968617 күн бұрын
As you are now aware, the magic of Zeppelin is that they did not have a definitive style. They changed, evolved. Some fans did not like Zep III, which this is from because it wasn't Whole Lotta Love. But it was more. They did not find a formula and then stick with it. Someone has asked for In The Light and this is just another example of a shift. Every album is a revelation. I was able to see them live in the Seattle Kingdom in 1977 when I was 18. The tickets were $12.50 (imagine that. I have the stub). You have already covered many of the major examples of their work. I would suggest Tea For One from Presence as an outstanding example of their blues style. Remenicent of Since I've Been Loving You but the guitar solo goes on forever or you wish it would. And the vocals are stunning. This piece is not reacted too enough. Robert Plant has gone on to an incredible career of experimenting with every kind of music he has encountered. Love watching your musical journey.
@caranconarroe-pearson295417 күн бұрын
Great perspective and spot on about them always evolving with hidden gems . Was it as awesome as one could imagine it being seeing them in concert in their heyday ? 12.50 and you probably thought that was expensive . I would frame the stub for posterity . And yes Tea for One is a excellent example . Now I am going to have to pull out my Presence album tomorrow lol !

I love this Diddy about a hill of gold. An old Welsh story. I love the Welsh theatrical tone. The little cottage in Snowdonia that they didn't ever want to leave. Because of its position of how the little chalet lined up so perfectly with the sunrise it was unlike any other place on earth. That's when Page wrote this beautiful instrumental about this hill of gold mountains which nestled the small chalet.
