Only half the song. It gets even better in the second half. Jump into the Led Zep rabbit hole, you won't regret it they were so diverse. They did so many genres of music, definitely not just a rock band. Heavily blues influenced in their early stuff. Those British bands just another level at that time.

They were totally based in the Black Blues Masters of the MS Delta ! This song was taken from blues master Willie Dixon. The British rock bands of that time were like PhD students of American Black music from which this all came. They added their Celtic folk, psychedelic effects and more. This song wraps up in a tight blues riff- keep listening to the end!!!!

Hey MM. Glad you are taking a chance on Led Zeppelin. If you like the Blues, R&B, Sole, you will like Led Zeppelin. All 4 members of the band grew up listening to American Blues and were heavily influenced by it. I'm an OG and grew up with them. My suggestion would be to start with some tracks from the first album. "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is a cover of a 1950's tune, and both "You Shook Me" & "I Can't Quit You Baby" are Willie Dixon covers. After reacting to those, you will be sold!

I've been a big fan of Zep for over 40 years. I can assure you that you have nothing to fear from them - their fans, on the other hand, can be quite mother bearish at times. 😁 I personally consider this a blues band that rocks. Idk how else to describe them. They've got some serious blues songs for sure but they skip around the genre wheel quite a bit during their tragically short run. A serious blues song that popped up in my head is called You Shook Me (audio version). Pretty sure you would like that. And several people have suggested Since I've Been Loving You live at MSG. You can't go wrong with that either. They sound even better live than in the studio. You're gonna love em. Everyone that listens to them does. ✌🏼❤

Please do I Can’t Quit You Baby from the Royal Albert Hall 1970. It’s a slow blues cover that is amazing. The studio version of Since I’ve Been Loving You is another incredible soulful slow blues. Definitely Jimmys best guitar work imo and Bonham’s drum swing is as deep as a heartbeat.

Rockers from the 60s-70s such as Led Zep and Eric Clapton LOVED 30s-40s legendary bluesmen. By evolving Blues into Blues Rock they kept iconic Blues alive and flourishing. Blues Rock is basically the same 12 bar Blues rhythm amped up to 24 bars per minute. Janis Joplin had her own style called Psychedelic Blooze. React to her live performance of Summertime. Check out Eric Clapton’s Crossroads, a Rock version of Robert Johnson’s Cross Road Blues. Also a Muddy Waters’ song called You Shook Me performed by Led Zep. A LOT OF CLASSIC ROCK CAME FROM LOVE OF THE BLUES

The Best Band Ever. Number 1 by a long way. Go through their repertoire but just make sure you listen to their studio versions first no matter what they tell you. Then heck out their live versions after you've heard the studio version of the song. They are the kings.

You are correct the blues influence is deeply rooted in their. The classic American blues masters were popular in England in the 50s and they put their spin on it the 60s hence, The British Invasion when I head it and became obsessed when I learned the origins were Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Howling Wolf, JuniorWells, T-Bone Walker, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Reed, Robert Johnson, Blind Jefferson, Bo Diddly, BB King, Freddie King, and Albert King, Otis Rush.Mix in some Gospel Funk and Soul and we get the unbelievable Aretha Franklin, “Baby I Love You”. Otis Redding, The Isley Brothers, and their backing guitar player, Jimi Hendrix. Not to mention Motown, and Stax Records. You can write a book about those four decades 50s-80s.
