The UK is a country in which the concept of critical thinking has become alien to the hard of thinking masses. Poverty and hopelessness are an ideal breeding ground for political extremism and ultimately fascism. The thankfully short lived Truss Kwarteng regime is a perfect example of proto fascism taking rood in an erstwhile parliamentary democracy. Sunak's weakness as a leader of a fractious and ungovernable tory kleptocricy precipitates a dangerous and unstable aftermath.

He had the media on his side and with the lies they pump out the public suck it in like a sponge as they did with Brexit and the war in the Ukraine, Iraq,Syria,Yugoslavia, etc etc etc There is a fatal disconnect between a political system that promises democratic equality and freedom while carrying out socioeconomic injustices that result in grotesque income inequality and political stagnation. Decades in the making, this disconnect has extinguished British democracy. The steady stripping away of economic and political power was ignored by a hyperventilating press that thundered against the barbarians at the gate - Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, the Taliban, ISIS, Vladimir Putin - while ignoring the barbarians in our midst. The slow-motion coup is over. Corporations and the billionaire class have won. There are no institutions, including the press, an electoral system that is little more than legalized bribery, the imperial presidency, the courts or the penal system, that can be defined as democratic. Only the fiction of democracy remains.

I love your work LBD, and I have a standing order to contribute to your cause, but I just can't stomach another 18 minutes of Boris Johnson. For now, let's just enjoy that he's gone and think no more about him than we would think about anything else we had recently flushed. I need the break, a moment of calm before the storm that will be our next, new worst Prime Minister ever. The Tories are definitely on a roll in that department.

The scary thing is not that so many put their trust in him, or that he became Prime Minister.....but that he could conceivably be PM again in future. If this were to ever happen, it would prove how utterly broken democracy is in the UK. The UK needs to change now, and change alot.....not just cosmetic changes or a tweak here or there; but major substantial changes need to be made. We need Proportional Representation now, and the sooner we have it, the better.
@patrickmccutcheon9361 Жыл бұрын
Not going to happen. Labour and the Tories agree that PR shall not be introduced. The crooked FPTP system benefits Labour even more than it does the Tories. Just look at how few votes Blair got in 2005 and he still got a majority and this despite lying about WMD to take the UK into an illegal military adventure.

While Boris' moral stature is clearly inadequate to even be considered an acquaintance within a circle of friends, I'm more concerned, or maybe I should say shocked at thinking of all the establishments that have been empowering, rewarding or capitalising on Boris' dishonest and bullying nature. For example, the Whole Oxford University establishment nurturing such a human and launching him into a sky of achievements should be made much more accountable. Also, "regular" people, those who Boris defines the plebes, could not achieve a successful life if they were to deliver even half of Boris' professional failures, definitely not a minor detail.

A friend of the Rothchild's, he worked for the World Bank and is also high up in the World Famly Planning Organisation. Johnson is very lucky and no doubt would be pleased to have biographies done of him no matter how awful a picture they paint. Frankly, he deserves indifference and oblivion: two fates which are terrifying to a narcissist. However. I was born in yorkshire and it's moments like this where I wish I was born a few miles further north and could have the chance to leave soon.
