WE have been saying that since before the Thatcher time, when the Labour government attacked our Jobs by buying foreign instead of British, then inflation was above 15%. I was at Oxford in the next door college in his later years there. What enrages me and saddens me, particularly because he still remembers it over 40 years later, but sadly does not surprise me is the abuse that the poor lad attending for his interviews suffered at his hands in the bar. I can imagine it all too well. What is truly frightening about this is that although we, the people, can do nothing about him until the next general election, the conservative MPs with full knowledge of this did not vote to oust him when they had the opportunity. I had the misfortune to encounter some members of the Bullingdon Club in 2006 when attending an MG Owners Club monthly meeting in a gastro pub in rural Oxfordshire. The MGOC meeting was in an upstairs room and the first we knew of these louts was things getting noisy downstairs followed by breaking glass. The pub landlord shouted up the stairs that we should stay put. Fifteen minutes later we heard police sirens and a dozen or so police officers arrived in three vans. From the upstairs window we saw many of the louts being bundled into the police vans. When it was safe to go downstairs to get ourselves some drinks we saw staff sweeping up broken bottles, glasses and plates and the food which had been thrown around, some of it at the staff. The landlord told us that one of the more sober louts had placed around £2000 on the bar as he left to cover the damage. I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of the gang of louts is now a Tory MP 😕

Unfortunately we never found out the outcome because the MGOC meetings were held in at least five or six venues since the branch covered a large area. I only went to that particular gastro pub three times during my time as a member before I emigrated to Romania. Changing venue meant members would have a meeting one month near their home town and maybe the next month drive 40, 50 or more miles each way.

I do not say it lightly when I suggest that all people standing for public office should have to to take a psychological test.
