Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

He could even go higher than this if he wanted to do it. I think he changed some of the songs to get more of a rough bass power, and that's something Greta Van Fleet needs to learn from. The singer of Greta was really straining the last time I seen him. He's trying to match what Robert did. Nobody and I do me nobody matches the pitches Robert reached in Since I've been loving you.

John Paul Jones wrote this one. All other Zepplin songs guitar riffs were written by Jimmy Page. Jones was inspired by a Muddy Waters tune and while riding the train, Jones wrote the riff on the back of his train ticket. Bonham and Page had a hard time with their parts following this and even Plant struggled to write the lyrics. This master piece is the child of John Paul Jones!

Can't help but feel that Page is overrated as a live guitarist. It's all good as long as he plays the riffs; nice, heavy and with good timing. But the soloing rarely does anything for me, and during the longer jams it's sometimes almost embarrassing. To me he's a great composer / musician rather than an actual great guitar player.

For those of us who grew up in the 70s, we would get the latest Led Zep album and sit around in a circle listening to the front and back while passing around the cover and lyrics (and passing around something else). No one spoke -- we were into our own journey to whatever universe a song like this would take us to. On Stairway, we would play that one song over and over but never tired of it. It was a mystical time!!

John Woods There are a lot of artists today that are really good and have really good compositions, if you look out of the media scope, don't get me wrong. But there are some specific artists in musical history that made a mark so profound that their compositions will echoe for eternity. The biggest of all in Rock N' Roll is Led Zeppelin. Someone could say "but the Beatles sold 'x' amount of albums" , but that's irrelevant. Most of their songs is absolute shit, with some few compositions that are truly amazing (Blackbird, Yesterday).

This may be controversial, but I think this live version of Black Dog (the 1973 US tour version) sucks and is NOT better than the album version, not even close. They used a different live instrumental intro (Bring It on Home instead of Out on the Tiles) and Robert sings the lyrics in a different melody (out of necessity though). Early on in their careers though, their live performances were undoubtedly even better than the records. Listen to the band's performance of Black Dog in Belfast 1971 on KZbin - It's undoubtedly the most powerful vocal performance of Robert's that was *EVER* recorded, and it's a damn shame that the concert wasn't professionally recorded so the best recording we have of the Belfast performance is a crappy bootleg recording that some audience member took with a portable tape recorder that was hidden under a coat or something. The greatest mistake I think Zeppelin ever made was not professionally filming and recording more of their early shows, especially from 1970-1973. The Madison Square Garden 1973 concerts are IMO not the best representation of Led Zeppelin and doesn't feature them in their peak. Sure, the instrumental side of the band were all arguably in their best form here, but Robert is obviously unable to keep up. Nonstop touring and concerts permanently damaged Robert's voice and by the 1973 tours he could barely sing any of the band's songs as they were originally recorded. The difference in quality, range and power in Robert's voice between 1971 and 1973 is unbelievable, and I promise you that his performance in this concert was NOWHERE near what Robert was able to do just a few years prior. If the The Song Remains The Same movie was filmed and recorded in 1971 instead of 1973, I guarantee you it'd be the greatest live concert album in music history.

@@ovichitayat5796 yeah that's true but, unlike other artists like Hendrix for example, who are still great, zeppelin had a mystical dark aesthetic and atmosphere so effects would fit in some of their lives. They are different style singer Can't really compare both of them Plant sings with that hot sexy passion which is very fabulous It makes you feel fabulous and sexy as hell badass feeling Freddie sings with a grandeur style and add some melancholic feeling in it If Freddie sings a sad song you would feel like you are the one that experienced the sadness

Vero, certo. 🥒🥒

Lyrics: Hey hey mama said the way you move Gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove Ah, ah, child, way you shake that thing Gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting. Hey hey baby when you walk that way Watch your honey drip, can't keep away Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh, ah, ah Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh, ah, ah. I gotta roll, can't stand still Got a flamin' heart, can't get my fill Eyes that shine, burnin' red Dreams of you all through my head Ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ahhh Hey, baby, whoa baby, pretty baby Darlin' makes 'em do me now Hey, baby, oh baby, pretty baby Move me like you're doin' now Didn't take too long 'fore I found out What people mean by down and out Spent my money, took my car Started tellin' her friends she gonna be a star I don't know, but I been told A big-legged woman ain't got no soul Oh yeah, oh yeah, ah, ah, ah Oh yeah, oh yeah, ah, ah, ah All I ask for when I pray A steady rollin' woman won't come my way Need a woman gonna hold my hand Tell me no lies, make me a happy man Ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ah ah, ahhh. Ah, yeah!

+dajuan williams Ohhhh, naughty, naughty. EVERYTHING is derivative. Music, films, literature.....you just have reinvent it and put your own signature /spin on something. They took a lot of existing "ideas" and improved (greatly ) upon them. SO tired of the "LZ plagiarized everything " comment. Blah blah blah. Nothing or noone from whom they derived inspiration did it better than they did!!!

Dude, this is like the 6th video in a row I see you complain about plagiarized material. Your argument is non-existent and you're not even getting much of a rise out of people. Try channeling that foolishness into productivity, and you'll soon find yourself doin' far more useful shit with your time. Life will be happier for you! :)
