Lee 101 Rider and Lee 101Z Side by Side Comparison

Had a pair of these when l was a young teenager. I had wrangler and Levi as well. Lee Rider were very hard to get hold of and slightly dearer than both Levi and wrangler think wrangler were around £3 and Levi just over £3 . They were all great jeans if you got a pair of Levi that fit you properly they would be my choice wrangler tended to fit you perfect As did Lee except they were a little loose on the bottom but Lee rider “washed out” a lot quicker than the other two and that was a big deal when l was a kid cos most people didn’t have washing machines! All these jeans were made in the USA and imported lm talking about the 60s , l can’t find any jeans now that were made and fit and washed out like they did in their hayday😢

how is the comfort of these? i have some wrangler cowboy cut slim fit jeans in rigid indigo which is like very heavyweight denim and i love the look but man they are very uncomfortable.

This are very comfy especially 101Z which is my favorite, denim is 13.75oz which is much lighter than Wrangler's 14.75 (usually) Don't hesitate, you won't regret....great selvedge jeans. Please watch my other review of Lee 101z after 5 years and 5 washes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKfIoouvmpWroNU

The only reason I haven’t grabbed a pair is the back pocket looks weird to me. They look like good quality though

I now got both. 101 Rider are a much better fitting jeans than Z, in my opinion.

Exactly. Today I tried on both in the same size. 101Z were a sort of oversized version of 501. Riders were just perfect, keeping in mind future shrinkage. I got very impressed by the Riders, and ordered them immediately from the Lee site, for the today's sale price it is a steal. I also took a chance to order a wool shirt, not so sure about the right size, though...

Z was for zip. There are also 101B which are button

Do you find the rise in the Z much better?

On my 101z (size 33W) front rise is 11.5" so I think it is perfect. Personally I like between 11 and 12 inches.

Are there crocking issues with these? I'm new to raw/selvedge denim and am worried about getting indigo on all my other stuff.

After initial soak 30min or so with just a drop of light detergent (I use Dr.Bronner) they wont bleed at all. Selvedge quality denim bleeds much less than cheap denim from department stores. Just make sure you rinse it at least three times after the soak.

@@KnightsLegion226 Yes that's correct. Also before you soak turn jeans inside out, rinse three time after soaking - cold water and hang them dry. If you order you own size or one size down don't let them dry completely, put them on while they still slightly damp and let them dry on you. You do it only once of course :-)

@@KnightsLegion226 Lee 101's are both sanforized and what they called true to the size TTS so you safe go ahead and order your true size....they will not shrink much at all. It just some people want them to look more slim and order one size down - I wouldn't do it. If you want more slim just get 101 Rider.
