This song is motivational. Basically tells you to keep moving forward no matter what. When life gets hard give faith a chance to make life better for you. And when the opportunity comes take it full on. There will be mountains (obstacles) but don't be afraid keep going never give up but give faith a fighting chance. Always stay hungry and keep growing. Mom hopes you never had to go thru tough times but those tough times is what makes you who you are. I wish much success and prosperity to everyone reading this, no matter what you do in life. Stay hungry for more, take the path least traveled and keep faith burning

I am so sorry for your loss my dear, i hope your daughter dances and passes that love along and may your family's hearts be warmed forever by this song and many more songs of hope, love and perseverance. sending warm and loving energy to you and yours. I wish I could give you a great big hug and I hope the pain becomes a little bit more tolerable. I know that kind of pain lingers, but it's finding ways to live with that pain and not become consumed by it. I heard the most beautiful expression yesterday that brought me to tears while watching a movie and, in this movie, the widow says to her stepdaughter, telling her about her deceased love of her life "he wrapped a string of lights around my heart." I know that I am a complete stranger, but pain is something I am all too familiar with and anytime I hear about someone who has experienced a terrible tragedy, I cannot help but become overwhelmed with emotion because I don't just empathize, I am a highly sensitive empath and I just want so badly to help everyone I meet or hear about with their pain and let them know that even if we are strangers, I care and I wish I could heal their pain. I hope I haven't rambled on too much. May peace and love be with you and those that you love and may it protect you and them as well.

" I hope you dance" is tattooed on my right foot. My Mom gave me this advice when I suddenly lost the hearing in my left ear...15 minute "episode" and it was gone and I was left with the constant snowy tv sound in my head. I was a RN and prayed it would not change my career. It didnt... 15 years later my brain has taught my ears to listen in stereo again. The human body and mind are amazing. I thank my Mom for not letting me give up and keep listening to the music. Never stop dancing🙏

For the most part you’re right. But if you look hard enough you’ll find it. It’s mostly smaller and undiscovered artists. You definitely don’t hear songs like this on the radio anymore. Mainstream music is shit. This song will always be amazing and is timeless.

I would be very grateful if this song speaks to the souls of others as it speaks to me. "I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean..." Well... that will always be true for me. I lived with my parents on a 36-foot sailboat when I was 7-12, and there were many times when there was nothing on the horizon for 360 degrees- in day, and in the middle of the night. If you want to feel small in relation to God or the world, you should spend a calm new moon night alone on the deep seas. It will quite literally change you as a person. Being surrounding by nothing but the night sea is virtually the same thing as traveling to outer space. Nothing but pitch black below you. Nothing but stars in their brightest fullest majesty above you. There is no cathedral in the world that can make you feel more in the presence of God. Strangely, utter solitude and isolation makes you feel like you are most at home. You look up and see an indescribable wonder of simplicity and complexity existing effortlessly together. And then you look over at your Dad, silently keeping watch and a hand on the tiller, and you know that you are home. At home with family among nothing but the stars. If you believe in God, you will never find a better place to feel His presence. I assure you.

I’m 38 years old. I’ve sat out most of my life. I’ve never really “danced.” I’ve had a decent enough life, have many happy memories, especially from my youth. But I’ve taken almost no chances on my own. Never took any chance at love. Always took the path of least resistance. And lately, I’ve felt very tired...and lost that sense of wonder I once had for life. This song is very bittersweet for me. As I’m sure it is with most everyone. I hope everyone, at some point in their life and in whatever capacity they can and that has meaning for them, “dances.”

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder, You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger, May you never take one single breath for granted, God forbid love ever leave you empty handed, I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens, Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. I hope you dance... I hope you dance... I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance, Never settle for the path of least resistance, Livin' might mean takin' chances, but they're worth takin', Lovin' might be a mistake, but it's worth makin', Don't let some Hell bent heart leave you bitter, When you come close to sellin' out reconsider, Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. I hope you dance... I hope you dance. I hope you dance... I hope you dance. (Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along, Tell me who wants to look back on their years And wonder where those years have gone.) I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens, Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. Our family suffered the lose of my brother when he was age 4. We never fully recovered. No parent should have to bury their child. It's the worst grief ever. I was only 3 years old when my oldest brother died. I have held a place in my heart for him all these years. Glioblastoma brain cancer is what took Mom out in 2010. My heart n prayers go out for you re your loss. Brain cancer is it's own special hell. But God's presence was so strong in the middle of it. Nobody is promised an easy life on earth. But we are invited to do life with God helping us through it. I've been opening to God since 1977 through the power of the Holy Spirit in Jesus Christ. He has healed and continues to heal my soul. Those who love much grieve much. GriefShare.com is a terrific support in times of grief. They have locations listed on their website. I'm not sure if they are international. But they are across the USA. My brother passed March 2020. I'm getting more support in GS this year. Maybe it will help you too. I have learned to dance despite many losses. It is what makes life worth living. In some ways I feel closer to my loved ones after they pass. Now they know truth. Now they know just how much I love them. The struggles of life on earth often block people's ability to fully give and receive love in the middle of all the challenges. If there's no such thing as time in heaven, may everyone destined for heaven will be there no matter when we arrive. I told Mom, "look me up in the dancing section, that is where I'll be." She laughed and agreed. A part of me is dancing with my loved ones in heaven. I hope you learn to dance again too. We never "get over" grief but we can get through it.

My Momma died just after Christmas 1999; and when I heard this song for the first time it was like she was speaking to me from the beyond. 25 years later I'm still brought to tears by gratitude for this song

I love Lee Ann with all my might! This Woman epitomizes Our Flesh-and-Bone Love Goddess. She represents the Full-fledged Womanhood of all the women in our lives, whom we, both boys and girls, admire, love and adore. OMG! Lee Ann is A DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS, SWEET and SENSUAL FEMALE SINGER, WITH AN ANGELICAL VOICE, SECOND TO NONE! Yet, when you look into HER SOUL, you find out SHE IS WAY MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL "ON THE INSIDE".

Same here. My mom used to BLAST this song in the car at max volume and would randomly turn it off to catch us kids signing along. 😂 Your mom is going to be so proud of you when you get married and have your first dance. ❤

You're mom will definitely be with you. NO doubt about that. She will be laughing, dancing, and hugging you the entire wedding. I hope you feel her presence. Big hugs. Losing a parent is soo hard. I am so sorry for your loss. She will ALWAYS be with you.

This song reminds me of my Mom who used to dance everyday with her 3 daughters. My Mom and Older Sister both went home with Jesus last year. I praise The Lord I still have my other older sister. My Mom taught all my girl classmates to dance at our slumber birthday parties every year of my childhood. My Mom was just a Queen and role model to so many girls and women. I miss her so much. Thank you for this beautiful reminder Leeann. God Bless You!!

Hey there, my Mom left this world when I was 10 years only, too. I am now 36 and still miss her very much in my life. A couple of days ago I dreamed of her playing catch with my son and me. It is like she wants me to know she is still with me and my kids or how she would love to be around with us. I still don't know how, but you and me will have to learn to live and be happy without our Mums. I believe they are not gone forever. We will see each other again one day.
