Just listened to this song, while sitting in my dad's truck, beside his grave, allowing myself to cry, "though I try to be strong". Last month marked 4yrs since he's been gone. Thank you. It's a song I didn't know I'd need.

10 years ago, I lost my son. Three and 1/2 years of having cancer. I will never be the same. We bought him a car of his choice-his reward of getting into pharmacy school-that car was his pride and joy. He finished school-got his doctorate -worked for six months-and then diagnosed with cancer. We were by his side every step of the way until the end. I drove his car from from 2010 to now. Still cannot let the car go. Thank you Lee for giving the words to my feelings.

He was a purple heart, Vietnam Veteran, coal miner, farmer...he left his vintage 1956 Chevrolet truck and his old F150 along with 120 acres and a house to my 2 siblings and I. We all use the farm truck to haul everything. When I get in that truck see everything that he left in there, smell the smells and feel him next to me. What a song.

@@brianpierson1322 This December will be 7 years since Caleb died. We didn’t get to say goodbye. It happened during an extremely foggy drive to work. Yesterday was a watery eye day. Quiet time mowing the lawn allows for thoughts and memories to flood a brain. It just happens sometimes. Even at 62, I get caught in a moment. It’s unpredictable. I haven’t had any public breakdowns such as you described. Mine are almost solely when I’m alone on my property. I’m so sorry for your loss Brian. So sorry. Lost my dad 9 years ago in 2010. To help with funeral costs, my mom had to sell his truck. Later on, very determined, she began looking for it around 2014. Fast forward to 2016, she had found the truck and bought it back for my 16th birthday. My grandfather, whom I was very very close with, passed away the following week after my birthday. I truly believe God kept him here with us just so he could experience that special moment in my life. I'm 19 now and while I don't still drive the truck, I still have it and will cherish it forever.

I bought the jeep and went and tore up fields while listening to this. I wished I had done it sooner so me and her could of tore up that small town together. Cancer really opened my eyes to how short life is. I wished I had that time with her. I wished Cancer took me instead. 8 years later, I still get in that Jeep with her. She is always on my mind when I get in and take him for a spin. Now he's falling apart and my heart is to, as it's so expensive to take care of him. I feel like I'm losing a part of my soul that I have with her when I get into that jeep. I hope to be able to fix him one day so I can continue to ride with my big sis.

Grandpas are so important to us. I miss mine too, they both died at a ripe old age of 92 and that still doesn't make it easy. They were such good men. We owe it to our grandfathers to live the best lives they could hope for us. We can't stay stuck in the past, but living forward, we will honor their memories. We will become the men they hoped us to be. Take heart, Chris. Your grandpa is still with you.

This song reminds me of my friend I lost a year ago. I remember because at his viewing, they let his best friend drive his truck to the viewing and half of the people that showed up didn’t know it was open coffin. I cried my whole heart out that night. So many people that knew him and missed him showed up that night, even though it was freezing there was sill a line of people all the way out to the parking lot of the funeral home. We all said our goodbyes to him and did it over again at his funeral. I remember because we all signed his coffin with silver sharpies. Even his favorite teacher that no longer taught at our school showed up, and it was a two hour drive for him. This song and You Should Be Here.

I’m blessed to drive my son’s Nissan Titan 4x4. Tyler loved his truck !!! ❤️. My son got killed in four wheeler accident at age 24. He loved Jesus and these great United States and was a Momma’s Boy. ❤️💯❤️

I feel this song on so many levels. My Dad passed away suddenly in 2021, I have the pickup he drove daily and now it is my daily driver. So many memories and feelings. My Dad was USMC and this song is alot like the feelings like the whole tears thing he sings about.

I played your song tonight in honor of my brother in law Roger and his son Christopher. Both are veterans who are no longer with us in body. Such a powerful song. Thanks

SFC Monti 10th Mountain Division. It's actually from his father's perspective. He's one of 3 medal of honor recipients at 10th Mountain.
