44:35 this right here makes me happy knowing I bought an RCBS Lockout Die for my lee 6000 six pack pro, I set up my press the second I got it but didn't run my press for like 2 weeks until after I got it my RCBS L.O.D. I bought the RCBS L.O.D. with the same thoughts of never running it without some form of powder checker when I found out how a powder checker works I thought there had too be a better alternative and I heard about the RCBS L.O.D. And wondered why lee didn't make one that works the same way since lee is normally the one who innovates and cranks out very useful tools and accessories. Thank you for this video I bought this exact bullet die for 9mm and one for 45acp I haven't received them yet but when I do I'm going too be really excited too run my lee 6000 six pack pro. All these accessories and safeties are the only reason why I'm willing too actually run and use a "progressive/auto press" instead of my lee challenger III press or even my lee hand held press, and I get some really consistent and accurate ammo with the latter two.

This may have already been said...in an earlier segment you were looking for a bullet "loading" solution? Could you not use the homemade jig (2x4 with groove down the middle) that was used for loading casings in the green tubes. Would this not be a better option for bullet tube loading over hand loading 1 bullet at a time?
@ReLoadersBench
@ReLoadersBench Жыл бұрын
I have very old videos on how I load my Mag-P bullet tubes and for my 45ACP it's just that, a 2x4 with a groove for the bullet. For whatever reason, I can't get the 9mm "groove" to work (maybe the bullets [115gr for me] are just too light for that jig to work (as the 45ACP is 2x the weight and works just fine). I'm actually surprise no one has a solution for feeding bullets into the bullet tube solutions on the market (without having to use a bulky and noisey electronic bullet feeder).

@ReLoadersBench Lee has a bullet loading system to load their turret style tubes up. I use it on a separate station using their Lee Seluxe APP press. I cast my own plunking bullets and use this to size the cast bullets and it loads them in the turrets at the same time. Then you take the turrets filled with bullets and put on the Lee bullet loading dies. They say you never have to touch the bullet again.

You and so many others. My Hornady 9mm BF dies (been through 2 now...and no more now that I have the Lee) pale in comparison to how well this die works. A year later and many thousands of rounds and I'm a happy camper. I only wish the bullet tube mount was a bit more stout (and would be willing to pay for an aluminum one...maybe an idea for the mini mill).

The ball bearings used to retain the bullet are as small as I've yet seen and, yes, they will disappear if you let them fall out of the sleeve when (or if) you extract it from the die. Do this step over a magnetic tray.

Progressive presses have a lot going on with them for the beginner. Not the best platform to learn on IMO. I like a turret press that has indexing, so you can use it in either single stage mode or pseudo progressive-ish (not quite) mode. Turret, like what Lee has, presses are a LOT less expensive than a progressive. But, to each their own and YMMV.

With my Mini Mr Bullet feeder die which uses balls to drop bullets onto a case, I had similar issues. I discovered it was my case length small variances. Slightly short a bullet wouldn't drop, slightly ling it would crush the neck ruining the case. I had to slightly lift the feeder neck to drop the bullet. I got me through that batch of bullets. I too hate things that don't work.

I was wondering the same as when I reached out to him about modifying his Mag-P aluminum base to natively fit the Lee Inline Bullet Feeding die all was well (meaning website up and communication flowing). Took him a few months to finally get the Lee product (as it was backordered when I made this video) and he even sent me an email letting me know he had one. I waited a few month to ping him back over email and that went unanswered. Waited another few months and sent another email which also went unanswered. I took that as don't bother me, so I didn't any more. Then one day I went to the website thinking I'd order some of the bases and do my own mods only to learn the website is no longer live. So I can't only assume no longer in business as I can't find anything online, but then again didn't really search too deeply. Long winded way of saying "I think so".

@@ReLoadersBench sweet!!!! Looks like I need one. Do you have kind of large case mouth flair to get bullets to stabilize when rotating to next station?
@ReLoadersBench
@ReLoadersBench Жыл бұрын
@@silverback3926 - flaring/belling is a double edge sword. Too much flaring or working the brass decreases life (then again 9mm range brass is EVERYWHERE, so maybe not an issue) so it's all about your powder/case flaring adjustment on how wide you want that case mouth. I prefer to adjust my belling to just wide enough to "seat' the bullet. The motion/vibration of the shellpate/ram will constantly introduce some level of jarring to tilt a bullet occasionally.
@silverback3926
@silverback3926 Жыл бұрын
@@ReLoadersBench i get it . I am with you about the least amount of case flair. But with inline bullet feed the shell plate has to rotate to next position to seat and crimp bullet. So if the bullet is constantly tipped or falls of then that kind of defeats the purpose of a bullet feeder. M a loader may as well go back to doing it by hand or Lee's older feed system. Anyway thanks for the info.
@ReLoadersBench
@ReLoadersBench Жыл бұрын
@@silverback3926 - funny you mention tipping as I’ve found that withe the Lee bullet feeding die (as compared to my 2 9mm Hornady bullet feeding dies) the Lee “seats” the bullet bett with SIGNIFICANTLY less tipping (regardless of how I adjusted the Hornady dies). I’m beyond impressed with the Lee solution in terms of performance as well as cost. Excellent value IMO.

I have to say it "WORKS" I have tested on two types of bullet and low and be hold it worked. Lee should've come up with this a long time ago. There is one thing I don't like about the bullet feeder. The plastic parts should've have been made form steel or metal. I order the Lee Inline Bullet Feeder I didn't get the little wrench. This beats the old bullet feeder.
@ReLoadersBench
@ReLoadersBench Жыл бұрын
Agreed, not a fan of the plastic "coupling" part to mate the die to the feeding tubes. I reached out to Socalsw.com about upgrading/adding a Mag-p base that fits the Lee bullet feeder. Once that is available (last email from him was "in the works"), I will get that. GREAT product IMO. Lee, understandably, had to keep costs down. Too bad that don't offer an aluminum upgrade to the plastic adapter/coupler. I have no doubt it would be an option many would purchase.
