Background music and PIP video too made for a pretty distracting audio track :)

i saw on musicians friend that lee oskar harmonicas are tuned to 441 hertz, wouldn't this sound terrible with other musicians who tuned to 440 hertz?

Hey +harmonica guitar, thank you for the question. It's interesting you mention this, because prior to your comment i had no idea normal LOs were tuned differently to 441Hz. In my experience, i've never found them to be out of tune when playing with other musicians; no significant pitch variation resulting in dissonance. I read that it's advertised as having a slightly brighter sound which is true, but it certainly doesn't affect pitch. Hope this helps

I play LeO's. I totally agree with what is being said about leakiness and bending problems. LeO's are not consistent harmonicas, one is quite good, the other total crap or it takes too long to play decently. Now I want to try a Hohner Golden Melody because I am looking for the harmonica with overblowing possibility right out of the box.

Thanks for the comment bralis2. Certainly agreed, sometimes even a consistent Lee Oskar harp plays terrible one day, but is fine the next, its weird. I've always been interested in the Golden Melody - let me know how you find it if you get one! :) I know jason ricci has mentioned overblowing on Suzuki Manji's before - and they're near perfect if not perfect out of the box imo. They're also great in all other areas such as tone, volume, bendability and air tightness. All the best. :)

Very informative. Just getting into the instrument. Still picking out where to start. Might pass on this one until I have been playing a while. Interchangeable plates sounds attractive since I don't have a lot of money, but I don't want to have to learn bending on a 3rd hole that's going to let me down.

Hey +TigerClawTV, thank you for the comment. All the best in learning harmonica. I've found Suzuki harmonicas to be very consistent with quality and Bluesmasters great harps to play - especially to begin with because they're easier to bend. They're also cheaper than Lee Oskars. Had them for many years and still sound great. I have a few LOs, but without some tweaking they can get quite stiff to play. Marine Bands are also great for the traditional sound, but can be inconsistent as well (stiff reeds). All the best, hope you find a good harmonica that you love playing!

When you are looking to buy a new harp.., ck out Yonberg Harmonicas. 3 different models to choose from. The Typhoon & Storm comes with Seydel stainless steel reeds ( last 5 times longer ). The Wind has Seydel brass reeds ( also very good). All models are made with a Polycarbonate frame. Anyway ck them out at Alpine Harmonica.Com. I think you may enjoy how they look, play & sound.
