I've been lifting over 20 years and at 40 years old I'm still getting stronger in the gym and faster on my mountain bike. I train sometimes with a 70 year old who was in the SAS and started training at 18 years old, he says he was at his strongest in his late 40's to early 50's. 60 years old is when he said he started to notice a drop off. I've read things written by other long term athletes and they claim personal best swims or 10K runs etc around the age of 50. A lot of elites probably just get tired of pushing limits all the time and pack up well before they could hit their true potential. My main training partner is 49 years old and he is still hitting personal bests after 20 years of training in the gym, a lot of people who use the age card as a reason to not put the effort in are just lazy.

why do so many of the pros use such a short range of motion with most exercises and do so at a rapid pace? many also seem to cheat rep like crazy too.
@POLITICALYCORRECTify8 жыл бұрын
As long as you do full range on the stretch, you dont need a full contraction, like Bench, doing full reps takes alot off your chest and more onto triceps which means you lose continuos tension, which in my opinion is THE MOST IMPORTANT TRAINING TECHNIQUE that should always be implemented, unless your doing powerlifting... As per the speed of movement, you only have so much atp pc, usually ten to 15 seconds, so bt doing them fast youll get more reps while your still strong, and lastly, youll be stronger by making use of thte MYOTATIC STRETCH RELFEX, which will enable you to lift more... (cant remember if thats how its spelt..)

hey sam, question for lee. ive seriously considered doing bodybuilding shows recently, my questions is: Im now 27 years old, i have not enhanced minus a 4 week PH run in early 20s, will the people who've enhanced for years and years hold a significant advantage over me? ive trained since age 15 consistently and acheived solid development in all muscle groups and know i have good genes for bodybuilding (particularly for putting on mass quickly). Am i too late in the game and at a disadvantage for not enhancing over a long period of time?

+ yeh Stallone is something else tbh. I have been a fan since I was younger and I loved the rocky films. He's 70 in July I think. I'd rather look like Stallone Than Arnold becusse as you said he has an athletic body as opposed to a heavy bodybuilder and I think that's the key to why he's in such good shape and is so flexible and what not. I think he does a lot of different training, not just strength stuff. He even said he doesn't feel his age at all. Whenever I watching the making of the expendables films and begging the scenes stuff he's like a young guy moving around its weird to see. It really is like the guys ageless and it can't just be to do with whatever he's taking. Maybe he's just got mad will power? I don't know. There must be a reason why is is so young compared to Arnold? Even if he has had work done. I don't think he's had Botox cause when he talks and smiles he has frown lines and all that stuff. Sometimes he looks super young like what the fuck young. Other times not so much. He does seem to bloat from the growth hormone though. Check out his Instagram. He looks really young in some pics
@stevecvntniko82718 жыл бұрын
yeah my father is massive fan from the Rambo to rocky and over the top. I die notice in the Rambo movies he got more bigger and leaner by each film. I'll check some photos of him but the last time I seen him on the news for the Oscars his face looked weird lol. My favorite body at of all the actors was this Chinese guy in blood sport the movie Van dam. But Stallone had a nice ripped look back in the days. I'll have to see his new pics of his body now that he's in his 70's

Its time under tension. If you avoid lockout or full contraction on some exercises but go to full extension on the negative portion you will find that its a degree harder whilst maintaining peak contraction. Its going to look like a cheat rep unless you know that the person training is flexing at the crucial point.

+Steve can't reply directly to your comment I'm using a stupid KZbin app. I know all about that but that was back in 2007. I highly doubt he's on heavy amounts. He's obviously monitored by his doctor, and as I'm sure you know to much of that stuff can cause excessive bone growth among other things. I know he's on test as well. He's 70 soon anyway. It's not look he'd be able to look like that if his hormones and body chemistry is fucked from age anyway. But with Arnold he seems to have really gone to shit. The difference with Stallone isn't just his physique, it's his mobility age flexibility too. There's a training video on here of him from 2010 I thi and he's jumping around and moving like a guy in his 20's. I don't know about you but I've never seen someone of that age moving around freely and jumping like he was. It's obsessed with longevity and I don't think Arnold cares to much anymore.

*jason Sorry if I offended you :/ I understand that. But by Arnold going into politics he also killed his acting career, and stopped taking care of his body. The result being Arnold has aged dramatically the past 10 years. They even gave him hair extensions for terminator genysis to make it look like he had a full head of hair. The point I'm trying to making is Arnold is going downhill fast from a physical point of view. If sly took of his top, he more than likely have pretty good definitions and size. Arnold wouldn't have much definition. I've spotted how many times he uses a stuntman now as well. Sly does too but he broke his neck in the expendables and I'm pretty sure if he damages his neck again he could become paralysed. It's different. Arnold's uses one because he isn't very mobile or flexible anymore. Sly uses then for the stunts where he could get his neck injured. I would just think Arnold now being older would be more concerned about staying in shape etc. Yeh he rides his bike and what not. But he's just not believable doing action films anymore. Stallone is. Arnold from a health Perspective shouldn't have ever gone into politics. It ruined not only his health, but his body as well. Just strange how he's got so much money but seems to be okay about loosing his hair and getting old like an average person. I'm a big fan of both. Arnold was a pro bodybuilder maybe he got tired of it all. But the difference between the two of them now is pretty noticeable. Arnold's usually dresses and moves like an old man and sly walks around in jeans and a t shirt/shirt and trainers. They only have like a year between them both lol. Arnold has also become somewhat of a parody of himself in recent years, throwing out random catchphrases. Just kind of sad to see what's happened to him really.

The pre-steroid era bodybuilders and strongmen stayed bigger and stronger longer and were better built and stronger then the average 30 yr old nonlifter when they were twice that age. What's sobering and more than a little disconcerting to me ( trained for ~50 years out of 65 without AAS, now called "gear") is the way elite, young bodybuilders and powerlifters look after they drop anabolic drugs - and lifting, as you stated. I wonder how they can stand it.

Did you ever here about muscle memory. It's incredibly powerful so all he would need is a high protein diet. Tester one is not the only factor in maintaining muscle you need to understand that. It's only 1 factor. I'm almost in my mid 40's and I'm still maintaining quite a bit of mass. You know why it's because I've been training since I was 12 like Lee. So the muscle memory factor and having good genetics is more important than testosterone. Oh..and you have to know how to train smart. When you get older all you need is good form and high reps to maintain if you got the genetics and muscle memory.
