Well the 2 major purpose for the penhold are gone so there's no reason to invest in it unless you just like the feel.

I've tried all the grips, including the rediculous 'Seemiller grip' for years and the reverse penhold grip gave me the backhand of my dreams at the club level like Wang Hao and Felix Lebrun here. Go back to your 'shakehands' grip and be boring.

Ma Long should be one step too high but who knows, Félix took him all the way to 5 sets in Lanzhou. A great game to watch anyway.

5:49 This was the moment of the match. Something happens to the lights, Felix is noticably confused and distracted, does not let it affect him and plays an amazing rally right after at 10-10 which changes the tides and makes him able to not give away the set which would lose him the match. The grit on this guy is amazing!

Well he wasn't mentally strong when he thought the ball hit Lee's shirt. He stopped playing and lost the point at a critical time in the match.

Lee is kind of weak on long distance rally if you notice, even the game where he beat Timo 3-0 the few points he lost to Timo was some of the long distance shots because he just wanna do kill shots at a short distance.

If the ball touches the opponent’s shirt, the player would be awarded a point

he did mention, that the ball is "touched" the body of Lee, so he should have been won that point

I know many can not agree but for me Felix is much more complete penholder than Xu Xun when we compare them at the same age

Better backhand. Xiu Xin is basically a looping forehand player. Lebrun is more like Wang Hao.

A habit Felix needs to get rid of is when he loses a point, he often looks back to the coaching box as if to say silently 'how and why did I mess this point up?' Ths is a visual sign of weekness to the opponant. Stop it Felix! Robert at 68.

Wtf. His playstale is very agressive and I don't know how anyone can't enjoy it. His behaviour is ok, very positive, energetic and always play with fun. Comparing to Harimoto at his age Felix is much more mature

Pas très vrai... Le nombre de lets au service où seuls les joueurs les remarquent et stoppent le jeu eux-mêmes... Ça fait bien partie du sport, pas très malin de lui reprocher ça je trouve. C'est une erreur de jugement commise à un moment crucial de la partie, mais c'est pas mauvais sur le principe.

@@olivierr5937 seuls les joueurs peuvent le voir, de 1. De 2 avec le maillot qui commençait à bien sortir du short de Sang-Su, et vu comment il est lui aussi taillé comme une brindille, il y avait de fortes probabilités pour que ça arrive, de 2 et de 3 quand la balle effleure ton maillot bien flottant, il y a des chances pour que tu ne sentes pas la balle te toucher, le maillot faisant écran à la sensation de toucher, donc les 2 sont de bonne foi: Félix voit la balle toucher le maillot, il est le mieux placé, et il est reconnu pour son fair-play (donner des points quand son service touche son maillot justement, comme Dang Qiu sur une balle de set la veille lui aussi reconnu pour son fair play). Le souci c'est que c'est une balle de match, et là il n'y a plus de fair play, chacun défend son bout de gras. Les arbitres ne voient même pas les balles toucher les maillots au service, le match Félix/Qiu l'a montré, ce sont les joueurs qui s'arbitrent le mieux dans ces cas-là. Tout ce qu'ils sortent c'est "let" parce que la trajectoire est alors bizarre, ils ont un doute, et dans le doute dire let permet de se protéger en tant qu'arbitre, c'est ni plus ni moins que de dire "balle à remettre" comme un entre-deux au basket quand on sait pas qui fait la faute. La morale de tout ça: vivement la VAR, que les chinois sous l'impulsion du chef de la WTT... qui est aussi le chef de l'équipe nationale de Chine comme par hasard, Liu Guoliang, ont saboté car ils trouvaient que les arbitres européens appliquaient trop à la lettre les règles à leur goût (et c'est pour ça que depuis l'avènement du WTT il n'y a quasi plus de tournois majeurs sur le sol européen, au mieux des contenders ou des feeders), et comme on sait que les chinois, en plus de booster leurs plaques, camouflent à tout va leurs services, font du mind game en levant la main pour un oui ou un non dès que le score ne va plus pour eux, ou pire: les flashs de supporters chinois lors de balles de match contre leurs chouchous (et ça Sang Su il a bien fait attention la veille contre FZD, comme Simon en 2019 contre Xu Xin, un supporter chinois avait empoigné son smartphone pour envoyer un flash direction les yeux de Simon sur sa balle de match). On a une VAR hyper efficace au volley-ball sur des touchs de contre alors que la balle parcourt à peine 20 cm à parfois 150 km/h de la main de l'attaquant jusqu'au bloc adverse, donc c'est absolument pas compliqué de la mettre en place au tennis de table. La volonté n'y est pas, puisque les chinois font ce qu'ils veulent. Elle a existé un temps, et comme par hasard, Ma long se prenait des points dans la tronche car son service derrière la tête (comme Manu Lebesson d'ailleurs) était récurrent. D'ailleurs qui est rappelé à l'ordre pour ses services ? les français, car les chinois voient d'un mauvais œil leur percée dans la hiérarchie mondiale, politiquement parlant un pays européen, de tradition occidentale, et l'un des membres majeurs de l'OTAN ça ne sert pas leur politique extérieure. Si c'est un pays plutôt de l'ex bloc communiste, ou encore totalitaire ça va pour eux, c'est pour ça que la Bulgarie, La Slovénie et la Turquie raflent les tournois sur le sol européen. CQFD

Was eine unsportliche Entscheidung im 5. Satz von Lebrun, eine Shirt-Berührung zu reklamieren. Das hat den Rhythmus komplett zerstört. Sicherlich gut gespielt, aber ich hoffe Ma Long regelt es nun im Halbfinale.

@@adrianedelito6899 lerbrun reklamierte das der Koreaner den Ball ans Shirt bekommen haben soll, was nicht der Fall war. Der Schiedsrichter gab den Punkt somit an den Koreaner.
