I'm a 3 handicap and I have only recently started listening to Mr. Trevino's tips...It never ceases to amaze me how good he is translating a tough golf shot into a very easy to understand tip...he really may be the best in the business for conveying golfing advice.

Golf needs more "Lee Trevinos". Modern golf lack the personalities. They are taught to show no emotion whether they make a good or bad shot. Johnny Miller was another great personality. Boy did he wear his emotions on his sleeve. The emotions we see during the Ryder cup would do golf very well on the PGAT. With that said, love Lee's instructions. A top 5 fave golfer. I am late to the game but thanks for posting!

I'm a 4 handicap and Mr. Trevino's tips over the years were some that resonated with me the most; he was a genius on the links and also a master at explaining the art and science of the golf swing. Still the best golf tip I ever heard was when he was being interviewed after a round and was asked to give the mid/high handicapper his best tips. Lee obliged and gave a couple good basic tips and then ended the interview with "and it also doesn't hurt to hit 200 or 300 balls a day at the range"...that one stuck with me, you need lots of reps to learn how to create and understand your own golf swing.

I've been going to golf tournaments since the 1970s. I would arrange my vacation days around them. Usually I pick a player and follow their entire round. I've always had favorites. This guy is certainly among my top couple. A great player and very entertaining guy to watch. A tremendous ball striker. I saw an interview with Jack and they asked him about great ball strikers and he mentioned two names. Hogan and Trevino.

Watch how much his club bows as it compresses the ball into the Turf. Really similar to a hockey stick. That stored energy gives all the power when the club (or stick) snaps back. Great lesson.

Agreed. It's like watching robots. No style what so ever with the exception of a few. Then you got the dumbass commentators treating those few like they have all these swing faults because they don't swing like they have a stick up their ass.

Hitting it FAT has to do more with dropping down your shoulders in the backswing. If you stand tall in the backswing it's easy to hit it thin.

Hitting down with a driver isn't advisable. Not dissing Lee, a great player, but there always had to be an explanation as to why greats of the game have offered advice and tips that utterly contradicted each other. With technology, now we know why.

A 6 Wood??? And persimmon. Wow. Talk about a few years ago. The last time I saw a 6 wood was with my car mechanic. All he had was woods. He could not hit an iron. He had an 11 wood. Oh, he did have a wedge for sand. He was even lousy with that.

This is frustrating to watch, because the entire club market WANTS YOU to hit UP on a fairway wood instead of taking a descending divot as you should.
@Carbivore67

I love the "merry mex" but he is no teacher LoL. He keeps saying things like "hitting area" and "Hit" down on it yet there is NO HIT in his swing. In his book as in this video he talks about holding on with the last 3 fingers of the left hand. In his book he says pull hard with those 3 fingers and keep the right hand out of it, No HITTING folks!! Pull with the last 3 fingers hard if you want to SWING like Trevino:)

Any Professional at the highest level, has spent almost all their life working on their own swing...and they have an incredible amount of God given talent. A few people can benefit from Lee's wisdom, but I'm pretty sure we're way down the scale of abilities to even understand just what he means...and then, add to that--he often does something that "feels" a certain way...and does another. You cannot teach with the kind of talent Lee has, and without looking at why people actually can't swing the club in the correct manner FOR THEIR ABILITIES....Lee does not, never has, had THAT talent. The talent of looking at someone else's swing and then determining what course of action to go from there...physical limitations, age, agility etc....there are reasons why we have teaching pros...and some folks have the talent to learn from some youtubers...people think everyone will benefit from good instruction on a video...not true IMO.
