Great job just a few things I noticed since I had to learn the hard way if you use a pressure washer to wash out your screens you need to over harden your screens ( just use a regular water hose sprayer that way your exposure time will be lower just post harden the screen when it's dry) but I promise your doing 100x better than when I first started keep it up
@leestuart386 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. I figured out thankfully that it was my exposure unit itself causing the problem, it was flickering off and on with the lid closed so I was barely getting any exposure. It's new so something must have just rattled loose during shipping, because I fixed it and now everything works perfect. Now I'm getting perfect screens with minimal effort 🙌🏻

the thickness of your emulsion was what made it expose too long. After I coat a screen (1 pass each side print side first) I go back and dry pass to get any extra emulsion off the screen. makes things such easier.
@RookieMistakeYT3 жыл бұрын
You probably figured out what it was and I may be wrong but if you wet your screens first after exposing and let the emulsion soften, you’ll begin to see the ghost image of your design. Then you can wash out and it makes life easier. Also im like 75% sure your power washer is pefect for washing out ink and emulsion but not for washing out an exposure. Just use a typical hose nozzle 🙌🏼 Also it’s better to overexpose than underexpose on the light table. I usually always let my screens cure overnight (if I have the luxury) and then expose on the longer side. Awesome series!!

I'm not going to lie, I'm glad you struggled. I have the same mindset as you. I am overconfident and immediately said to myself "That looks easy. I'll nail it on my first try." Is your exposure unit using a yellow light ? Because yellow lights keep the Emulsion from Hardening. They are light sensitive so the bright light hardens the emulsion
@NickARMartin5 жыл бұрын
I think that what might be causing your super long exposure times is the "paper" that you're printing your images on. I noticed that it is slightly cloudy and not totally clear. This could be limiting the amount of light that is getting to your emulsion and causing ti to take waaayyy longer than the directions say. I too am learning this process so I could be totally wrong but I figured I'd throw in my two cents

Nice workshop.. its like you can fall slipped for walking on them. you posting this video at Jan 19 I assume that you still need some advise. I am not as pro as hell but nice to share how i'am doing it. 20 minutes? you way way over exposure it. try 2-5 minutes depens on emulsion characteristic and light of your exposure unit and you dont have to use jet spray cz it to much push and can easily ruin everything. use spray on low to medium pressure. it's very easy once you get use to it. passion and experiment is the best way to learn. :D
@skylineprintco3926 жыл бұрын
Those exposure times seem long for that exposure unit. I'd try their cryocoat emulsion, you should get exposure times in the 45 to 90 second range. Also, not sure how long you're letting the screen soak after initially wetting them but let em sit for about 1 minute and then wash em out from the print side, not the squeegee side. Nice setup btw
@leestuart386 жыл бұрын
I figured out the problem was actually the exposure unit itself, about half of the bulbs were flickering on/off when the lid was closed, something I couldn't see with it open and luckily caught it out out of the corner of my eye. It's new so something must have just rattled loose during shipping because I pulled the bulbs, cleaned the contacts and everything works perfect now. Now me exposure times are exactly where they need to be and my washout is like 15 seconds max. I also got some chromablue photopolymer so now I'm dialing that in and I love it so far. Thanks man! 🤘🏻

Yooooo Fuck I feel your pain about burning the image. I had to burn a image six times, so now I burn my images for 70m

I got that all sorted out, it was my exposure unit being a turd. I've got it down to 3.5 mins with dual cure and 45 secs with photopolymer

Lee are you on FB? I know you probably don't have the time but then again I figured you might use FB for sales. I just needed to ask you some questions, totally screen-printing related, that I had rather not air out if you know what I mean. There's money involved and other things I'd just rather keep as low profile as possible. But if your not comfortable with that I completely understand. Nothing illegal or anything like that. I was a Deputy Sheriff for 20 years. Not that that means anything but it doe's to me. Just let me know Buddy and as before thanks for the video's. You do an awesome job my Friend!!

Do you have a friend that worked for a screen printing / graphic design company that could help you out?

Thankfully I have a few subscribers who own shops that have been real helpful. Everything is dialed now 🙌🏻

Lol hang in there.. I do think the emulsion is a little too thick in my opinion.

It's a 1/1 coat with the sharp side of the coater. The problem was actually my exposure unit itself, but I got that fixed and now I have perfect screens in quick times 🙌🏻

That's what I'm using now, it's great stuff. I was having exposure table issues though, so that was the real problem
