Puff relies on you to approach, if you play defensive puff will just outcamp you and have advantage with the possibility of auto-rest. There aren’t a lot of characters that can have that much defensive advantage, so there’s definitely an issue, there just isn’t a good way to solve it. Imo puff is definitely a secret boss character, being that she’s the only one with a positive matchup against giga-bowser. And like most boss characters in vidgames you CAN beat them, but only through highly extenuating circumstances, higher skill, and luck as in usually a mix of the 3. Amsa timing out hbox was a good example, but not something amsa should really have to do. 9 minutes to time someone out is a little excessive

Puff relies on Fox to approach because Puff is significantly slower than Fox. And Fox is capable of forcing Puff to approach if the player wants to, and they still have the advantage because lasers can quickly rack up damage. Puff’s play defensively because they are forced to unless they want to lose 9/10 times to Fox options by approaching first. An air stalling limit vs Puff means the character wouldn’t even be worth playing anymore. And you don’t see other top players complaining about this. Leffen ledge stalled more with Sheik vs Zain than Hbox did against Leffen lol

Two things that came to my mind: 1. If we ban "air stalling". Sure then let's ban zoners in fighting games when we're at it. Fox has a shine limit, Falco has a laser limit, Sheik can't use tilts more than 5 times, Marth can't grab. This sounds totally fair and reasonable to me! As someone who doesn't really play Melee, I say that we compromise and have an air time limit on Puff, but have a laser limit on Fox specifically for this matchup. That or we do nothing and Leffen quits, which is something I wouldn't be against tbh.

@@gazclarke3618 Not really, because puff is unique in her ability to stall in the air. Because she's able to do so without most of the cast being able to counter it, it's VERY different. Basically every other character is grounded in the way that Puff isn't, you can not by any means chase a Puff that is pound stalling offstage with Fox. Not making any judgement on whether or not the rule is reasonable btw, just pointing out these things are not really the same.

The shot clock point is a really good one, but when only one puff is giving people trouble, and who still loses sometimes when implementing this broken strategy, there shouldn't be any rules other than a ledge grab limit. Ledge grab stalling is close to wobbling in terms of breaking the game for an advantage, but jumping around with Sakurai given jumps is not grounds for a universal rule.
