Jason Jia I’ll admit I’m being a little offensive just from my distaste. That being said, I agree a lot with your comment. It’s probably more reasonable than mine. That being said I will RESPECTFULLY disagree that he is a respectable person. I’m not going to call HBox respectable because I know there’s some passing info of him cheating on a girl or something or another. That being said, Leffen outwardly attacks HBox on his Twitter and in multiple media feeds. The dude has no filter with hating on HBox. I just saw him change his tag to HBox in smash ultimate and ledge camp the entire time, only to win and mock the way HBox celebrates. To me that’s grimy AF. I truly believe if HBox looked like Leffen and vice versa, the community would metaphorically lynch Leffen for being a bully (a term way take more seriously in 2018). This is just where I’m coming from. I still appreciate your post!

The thing that makes Leff so strong in these sets is not only his clean technical play or matchup knowledge but its mostly his awareness. Every move his opponent makes every slight mistake is being punished like crazy

I think the biggest indicator of this was when Leffen instantly went for ledge at 150% when Plup was trying to recover. He traded the slight possibility of continuing a high percent stock for a good chance of jamming Plup's recovery. Great decision

I remember watching a bunch of smash highlight videos and in most of them, Leffen was always getting clapped, and I felt so bad, like he was really good at smash, but always came in second place. It is so satisfying to see him win one of the biggest smash tournaments ever, and he truly took the hardest and most heartbreaking paths as a melee player, and to see him come out on top is nothing short of awesome

And I agree in turn: if Leffen can bring his performance level at EVO into the realm of consistency, it WILL be his era - I simply doubt his ability to do so. I remember the summer of 2015, where Leffen dominated everyone for two months and then just couldn't do it anymore. Time will tell, but we won't have to wait. SSC starts this Friday, don't miss it. It will be more telling than EVO: the same top players, but now in Bo5.

Pizza Shark HBOX did not win the last Big House, the last EVO, the last Genesis, the Last Summit and the last Smash n Splash. He is the least dominant number one since I can remember. He is always in the top 2-3 in Super Majors, but hasn't won one for a while. He dominates everyone but Armada. But Armada dominantes everyone but Leffen. And Leffen dominates everyone but Hbox. So I can make a big case that Leffen should be the number one.

It's a shame to see Hbox not given the respect he is due on such a regular basis. Just google "Melee major tournaments" and look at the history; observe the trends. I'm not going to sit here and explain Melee history to a child. Leffen, incidentally, didn't win the last LTC, the last SmashNSplash, the last CEO, the last GOML, the last Summit, the last Full Bloom, the last Genesis, the last Canada Cup, the last Big House, the last Shine, or the last Dreamhack. What was your argument for him being the best again? The only multi-god tourney he's won in 2018 was EVO, which was almost entirely Bo3 and therefore less relevant than any other mentioned major.
