Left 4 Dead 2 - How to do a TAS speedrun

TAS, which stands for "Tools Assisted-Speedrun", which is an entirely different category compared to regular speedrunning or RTA "Real Time Attack". TAS has a lot to offer and doesn't always include a leaderboard. This is mainly for entertainment purposes only, before calling it cheating, make sure we are not competing against others and understand the purpose of TAS.
For those who are new to this channel, my name is Mr.Tank.Bhop, I am in the main lead of this group, and hereby am the most active speedrunner on this channel. I create tons of speedruns for the purpose of entertainment for those who are interested in them!
In this video, I talk about TAS for Left 4 Dead 2 and how it is done, so you can give it a chance into doing it too!

Thanks for this video, it ought to clear up a lot of confusion for people. But one quick PSA: last I checked, workshop ST overrides a bunch of nav meshes, because of course PCI would do that. If you want to not be a cheater, I suggest not just using the addon as-is but actually understanding everything it's doing and then modifying it appropriately. Also, keep in mind the script turns off the AFK timer and allows infinite votes (the latter is needed since the map doesn't actually reload between attempts). Since post-2045 builds of l4d2 have a 3 minute vote timer, care should be taken to make sure TASes don't do impossible stuff (in general, as well as in this particular regard). Have fun, gamers!

@@lazr9672 The l4d2 server tick is low so you cant just spam space, unlike csgo, csgo has a higher tick rate and you can spam space to hit some hops.

Year late, but yes, the record command can be used online, on any map, on any gamemode. As long as you're in a game, you can use it. Also applies to just about every other source game, if not all of them.

Those bhop script will not work properly on l4d2, so they’re trash to use, recommenced to practice a lot on bhop map

@@bnqq7556 I was told to replace the sourcemod files (make a back up of your previous first) when they roll out the update. www.sourcemod.net/downloads.php?branch=stable You could also join in on the pci gaming discord and talk to them about it to get more insight. I'm sure they're gonna know what to do.

That's why its called Tool-Assisted-Speedrun you're using tools to assist you, in this case they're technically just changing the RNG so in one small case it could turn out to be like that in a real game.

It isnt cheating really, what they are doing is using things that are theoretically possible and making a theoretical perfect run, most of the time, not being able to be done by humans, and isn't being submitted to the official leaderboards.
