Left 4 Dead 3 is a game that does exist it's just valve made it in a early version of source 2 and because of that they were just like nah I don't want to release it to the public so they never did. which is a bummer but who knows, valve gave a shit about the original Half-Life again for its anniversary so maybe at some point we will see Left 4 Dead 3 released to the public someday.

I think them mods is why L4D2 is going strong. Same reason why most of id Software and Valve games still thrives, a feat hardly achieved by other games of same era. Funny thing is, L4D2 was released at the same time as CoD4, and the latter was apparently more popular at the time... And now look how many people still play CoD4 compared to L4D2.
