I love how every Sunday morning when I wake up, there's a new episode for me to brighten my morning. Episode idea: Games That Are Boring. Not bad, not frustrating, just plain boring and not fun. To me, that's any sports title, FIFA foremost.
@JazGalaxy9 жыл бұрын
+Tom S. I wonder if that would make for an episode that was boring... For me that would be games that have overly long introductions. Movie-games tend to fall into that category for me. The developers want to "build the story" with half an hour's worth of exposition before the game even starts, and I just want to play. The rule for storytelling is "start at the most interesting point". Games tend to ignore this, thinking that they are movies. The most interesting point in a movie is not the same as the most interesting point in a game.

I have played the Gale Racer and the Rad Arcade game in an arcade at my Local theme Park called Cedar Point Ohio, it actually is shaped like a miniature car, you sit inside it, it has a massive old CRT and you have a wheel and gas with brake. The coolest thing about it is it moves with you when you go up on those curves or down the car moves. On top of that when it rains there are fans blowing to simulate air and the storm. It's one of the most awesome games I ever played.

Wow. There was this GameBoy game I used to play when I was a child that was a Japanese adventure game but I never knew what the name was because it was in Japanese, but while I was watching this video I recognized the characters at 17:14 from that game I used to play. I googled Goemon games on the Gameboy and lo and behold, it's the game! The one I played is called Ganbare Goemon: Kurofune Tou no Nazo. Damn that's crazy. Nostalgia roller coaster yo.
@RetroCore9 жыл бұрын
Really liked today's show. A little on Gale Racer. It was originally intended to be ported to the Mega CD hence the low colour video sections. Also, the arcade version has a much longer draw distance than the Saturn and uses sprites for its cars while the cars in the Saturn port are textured polygons. Gale Racer was the very first game I played on my Saturn in 1994 and I still have that original mint copy now. Played it to death is an understatement.

[Try4ce] I'm a HUGE fan of the Goemon series, and Ganbare Goemon 2 for the Super Famicom is possibly the best. The bunny-men generals from the west may very well be the most bizarre premise in the whole series, which definitely elevates it in my book. Loved the Ganbare Goemon 2 review Dave. A real shame that they never released it outside of Japan, i remember reading the glowing review in 'Super Play' here in the UK. Great to see the game in action after all these years. The 'Legend of the Mystical Ninja' was great and the first N64 game was fun too, even if it was basically a poor man's Super Mario 64. Would be perfect if Konami brought all of the Goemon games to the virtual console. Great episode guys.

Also your not alone Joe, I love those Sega arcade racers as well, even with Gale Racers cruddy graphics =p. PS:Here are some recommendations for the both of you if you havn't had a chance to try these yet: Dave: Ganbare Goemon Kirakira Dōchū: Boku ga Dancer ni Natta Wake (Goemon 4) (Super Famicom) Ganbare Goemon: Ōedo Daikaiten (Playstation 1) Both of those games are similar too Goemon 2's style of gameplay. Joe: Shinsetsu Samurai Spirits Bushidō Retsuden (Samurai Showdown RPG) (Playstation/Saturn/NeoGeoCD) Its a really pretty game if you like shrunken down sprite work, it even has a cool gimmick to let you input the super moves in the battle screen lol.
