Akira is such an absolute menace of a character. Her ability to just bulldoze forward is scary.

Bro your parents sound so wholesome. Back in high school when I first started playing SF, the first time my mom heard the announcers "Round One", she asked if I was playing Mortal Kombat. Took me by surprise that she'd played old MK in the arcades, but not Street Fighter. Obviously she wasn't crazy competitive or anything, but she did say she enjoyed the games, which made me pick up MKX

I think grinding ranked is an incredibly effective way to learning a fighting game. It's not about playing higher level players. It's about playing players at your level and rank quantifies it. Bryan is struggling with that simply because he's already so high, but let's not forget all the matches across both accounts it took to get to that point. He's earned it only by playing progressively better and better players, with the key being he started at the bottom. Say you have a very highly skilled friend you only practiced against. You would only gain high level matchup knowledge and not much exposure to lower ranked strats/cheese, without which, you will get absolutely smoked. Also, sick parents Brian.

Learning character matchups is one of the toughest things.I had a match with Akira where I got completely gimmicked out by Rog, He seems ridiculously safe in his approaches I couldn't apply any pressure.

It’s more due to lower ranks being unfamiliar with the character (I’m Gold and I’ve only played against her twice). Tier lists only apply to top level players. For example - Cammy is bottom tier for our skill level, because we have poor defense and we can’t hit confirm into spiral arrow.
