Amputation of left ring finger. MCP left in tact for a stump. Following an unsuccessful fifth surgery (tenolysis) in early August 2020, my fingers skin became infected and I decided to amputate.

I cut through my left ring finger last year, I won't say how, it was stupid. I lost the top 2 flexor tendons, an artery and a nerve. Plastics saved 1 tendon but everything else is gone. A couple of months later, my finger fused in to a claw, kind of a C shape with the tip of my finger nearly pointing at my palm. It's now been a year and I've just had an appointment with a surgeon. My choices are; #1 live with it. #2 surgery that might not work, has a 6 month recovery and physio forever to prevent scaring. #3 amputation, 2-4 week recovery and I can get on with my life. Anyway. I'm glad you're feeling better!

i'd opt for the amputation. I had seven surgeries. Nothing worked. Was hopeful throughout and it just put my life on hold for so long. Get on with your life. The amputation was the best thing i ever did.

I am 4 months post flexor tendon surgery. I completely severed the FDP tendons in all 4 fingers of my left hand in zone 2 and FDS tendons in Middle, Ring and Little finger. All 100% division. The FDP tendons were repaired but FDS were left unrepaired. My ring finger is doing ok and my little finger is good enough but struggles to straighten. Middle and ring fingers straighten fully but cannot touch my palm it's like I just hit a solid wall and they can go no further. I still have nerve problems in my ring finger. I am sorry for your amputation.
