Sissy squats and Platz squats (not shown here) are not damaging to the knees IF DONE CORRECTLY. The problem that most people have is that they do not push their hips out during the movement as Julian demonstrated here. At least, that's what I found and my knees have been fine.

Did his workouts yesterday. After workout, I could barely walk down the stairs. Sissy squats were so intense! I did it without any weights, and it was still the most intense legs workout I’ve ever done! Leg extensions put the final nail in the coffin. Today, I have muscle pain in my entire quads. best thing for the quads is extremely high tension cycling. Warmup slowly, increase the tension more and more until you can go the highest. To do this you will need a stationary cycler in your gym with adjustable weight\tension. I promise it works.

It is simple physics/biomechanics that a sharp angle of the join will lead to increased pressure in the joint. Most of Julian's exercises and workouts on Instagram are legit, especially his emphasis on going slow on the eccentric portion of lifts and his dieting advice. However, 90% of his leg related exercises are extremely dangerous. So what if his leg joints haven't been wrecked yet? He's doing what works for him; personal anecdotes doesn't mean shit when compared to studies and anatomical analysis. Branch Warren is huge but lifts with no form so does that mean poor form equals Branch Warren gains?

4:15 Elevating your toes decreases your range of motion, not because you involve your hamstrings more in any way, but because you stretch your sciatic / tibial nerve. It’s not dangerous but it decreases the effectiveness of the exercise. Toes flat and a slight bend in the knee takes the load off the sciatic nerve.
